Sophie and Courtney have been so busy at home this week! Sophie made an incredible tank and Courtney has spent two evenings this week practising writing sentences which include fronted adverbials. A huge well done girls! Mrs Ogle and I are very proud of you!

The Year 3 and Year 4 children have been busy this half term creating some beautiful poppy canvases for the ‘Thorne Remembers’ gallery at St Nicolas’ Church that will be on display from 9th – 11th November. Why not pop down and take a look!
I am incredibly proud of all of the Year 4 children today. They worked collaboratively to create a canvas per class filled with individual poppies in remembrance of those who died in the war. The children used acrylic inks to create their masterpieces.
Well done to you all! I’m blown away by the high standard of art work you have created.
The paintings will be displayed in the St Nicolas Parish Church for the week running up to Remembrance Sunday before returning to school to be displayed somewhere for all to see!

The children had a great morning exploring the works of Roger Hilton and the techniques he used to create his paintings.
We used charcoal to sketch the large shapes we saw around the school grounds then brought them back inside and applied a mix of water and PVA to add tone and texture to our sketches.
The children mastered this technique and I am incredibly proud of them all! I can’t wait for next Tuesday!

A huge thank you to Sarah for visiting Class 12 today. The children had a great time learning about how to stay safe as a pedestrian.

The children in Class 12 worked brilliantly this afternoon working collaboratively to find facts anoit the Blitz. The children used chromebooks and non-fiction books to help them.
I wonder if you can share a fact you now know about the Blitz with your family at home?

Sensory Circuit has gone all ZEN! Every morning, after completing their early morning sensory activities, some children have been learning how to meditate. It is a great way to start the day.
I would like to say a big Thank You to all the children and teachers at Green Top for the fantastic work they completed to celebrate World Autism Week during Aspiration Week on the theme of “It’s OK to be Different!”.
We shared stories, learnt how to support a friend with autism and learnt that we a re all different – and that’s OK!
The class activities inspired one year 5 boy to write about his own personal experiences and then share it in assembly!
As a result of our activities, we won a prize from TTS Group – an education supplier – of £150 of resources to support communication and sensory needs! A fantastic prize that will be put to very good use!!
