Class 5 and the computing case study

Today we dived deeper into our computing case study and began grappling with the technology. Class 5 drew some amazing patterns and pictures using different shapes and worked hard to collaborate and be kind by using the technology safely and practising the art of sharing.

Our aim is to create beautiful, purposeful work and I cannot wait to see how the safe use of technology will enable us to help us to understand further just what we can do to be a Superhero in our community!

We would like to invite parents and carers to join KS1 in a celebration of our Autumn term expedition … What will I do to be a Superhero in my Community?

On Thursday 2nd December, we will be serving tea and coffee in the hall from 8.45am before sharing our learning with you. We will then invite you to join us on a march to promote litter picking in the local area, an important message that the children in KS1 feel particularly passionate about sharing with everyone.

We hope you will be able to join us on the morning of Thursday 2nd December.

Kind regards,

everyone in the KS1 team 🙂

Key stage 1 competition

As part of our celebration of learning for this current expedition, we would like the children to create their own pickets and signs which relate to recycling and putting litter in the bin.

We intend to use them as part of our march in the local community on Thursday 2nd December.

Please complete and bring your picket into school by Monday 29th November – thank you!

There will be a small prize in each class for the best design.

Can’t wait to see what you create,

Mrs Shaw and the key stage 1 team! X

Class 5 Family Learning

Class 5 would like to invite you to join us for a family learning event on Wednesday 3rd November …

As you know, we have been learning all about being superheroes in our local community and about how we can make a difference to the world around us. With this in mind, we would like you to join us in a litter picking event in the Thorne community when we return to school after half-term.

If you would like to join us, please arrive at school on Wednesday 3rd November at 1.30pm and we aim to return to school by 2.30pm ready for home time. A text will be sent by school as a reminder.

We look forward to seeing you then, Miss Good and Class 5!

KS1 phase assembly winners

KS1 held their first phase assembly in the hall this morning, in 18 months! What a pleasure it was to see your smiling faces altogether again! Check out the gallery of photographs below for our certificate winners. We also presented some Reading Champion awards for the children who have read the most books from their reading packs and Paddington the attendance bear was very happy to be spending the next week with the crew who had the most children in school every day…..well done CrewDutton.

Keep up the good work guys!

Back to back, face to face!

Class 5 enjoyed talking about themselves when we played back to back, face to face this week!

We were practising using adjectives to describe ourselves. After this class 5 blew me away with their amazing sentence writing! We have beautiful hair, bold eyes and are lovely, kind year 1s! What a fantastic crew.

KS1 on the March!

Wow! What a fantastic start to our KS1 expedition … What will I do to be a superhero in my community? All of the children looked amazing in their hero dress-up and we ended the day with a protest to parents against litter on our school grounds. Remember – Pick up litter! Use the bins!
Well done everyone.

Our first week in year 1!

WOW!

I am so impressed and how grown up our class have been this week. It’s a big change coming into year 1 but we’ve all done so amazingly well. We’ve been kind to each other, helped each other, worked hard as a crew and everyone is showing me how hard they want to work this year!
We’ve been doing lots of art, inspired by Andy Warhol, some self portraits and some counting too! The book we’ve all loved is called The Day The Crayons Quit, and has helped us to talk about our emotions, understanding each other and has helped us to strengthen our crew. We’ve even manage to start critiquing our work. It’s been wonderful hearing the class give each other notices, praises and even some wonders too. Lots of children have been looking out for one another and I’m so proud of class 5!
I can’t wait for see you all flourish and grow, as a crew and individually.

GO CREW 🙌🏼
