Year 5 – Celebration of Learning!

How can a healthy lifestyle impact your body and mind?

On Tuesday 9th July at 2pm our Year 5 families are welcome to join us on the KS2 playground to celebrate our children’s Expedition learning from this term. The event will then restart from 3 – 4 o’clock for any parents that wish to join us after school.

Please enter school and sign in at the school office. There will be somebody waiting to greet you and bring you down to the classrooms.

We will be using technology to access some of the activities and the final product so please bring along any phones, iPads or tablets.

We look forward to celebrating with you all!

Learning Council – D Day Shoutout!

Last Thursday, Learning Council was invited to be apart of the D Day service in Thorne Memorial Park. They stood and listened carefully and respectfully and then confidently stood and recited a D Day poem along with children from other primary schools from Thorne and Moorends.

It was an honour to go along and be a part of such a special occasion to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings and I was super proud of all the children!

Year 5: D -Day Assembly with the Royal British Legion

Today, Year 5 enjoyed an assembly from Mick at the Royal British Legion. We learned all about the D-Day landings and why they are so important to our history, as well as finding out about the different ways in which the 80th Anniversary of D-Day will be celebrated tomorrow. Mick is Thorne’s Town Crier and he gave us a sneak preview of the important announcement that he will be making tomorrow morning at 8am to kick-start the celebrations (which will take place in Memorial Park throughout the day).
