Class 10 – Day 2!

What a great second day that Class 10 have had!

Yesterday, we started the day off by writing a little fact file about us. We learned new facts about each other such as birthdays, siblings and favourite movies! It was so nice to see everyone thinking of facts about themselves and, as their new teacher, was a great way to learn more about them!

Then, we completed some more Crew building activities. We had to pass a hula hoop around without breaking the chain (stopping holding hands) and was able to do this in small groups as well as the entire 27 of us! What impressed us most was our kind words of encouragement and it was genuinely heartwarming. Miss Smith said how impressed she was!

For the rest of the day, we worked on a variety of designs for our rock product. We put into practise the ideas that we learned, like making them bright and standing out.

Year 2 Superheroes – Class 7 at Harry Priestley House

To support our learning about helping our local communities, some of Class 7 enjoyed a visit to Harry Priestley House which cares for adults with learning disabilities. The children made cards and pictures for the residents and sang our crew song, The Climb. The residents were thrilled to meet the children and we hope to visit again soon. Well done boys and girls, we are so proud of our little superheroes!

Class 8 met some real superheroes in our community today

We have had the best afternoon visiting Parklands this afternoon and it was absolutely beautiful. They had prepared some great activities for the children to play with the residents and gave us a lovely present and card to thank the children for really cheering them all up. Thank you so much to all of the staff at Parklands for making us feel so welcome…we really had such an enjoyable time.

Year 2 superheroes – Class 7 at Adeline House Care Home

Today, Year 2 have been thinking about people who might need help or support in their community and this afternoon we have continued being local superheroes by visiting care homes to meet residents and share cards and pictures with them. Some of the children from Class 7 enjoyed a visit to Adeline House and it was really special to watch them engage with the elderly residents and to see the joy they brought to the home – well done boys and girls, you should be so proud of yourselves!

What a wonderful day! 💚 – Crew Spetch

What a fantastic night we had last night camping out and making fab memories! Despite lots of tired faces, we have still had a jam packed day today and shown great stewardship skills cleaning up our camp and learning more about our community with a visit to our local food bank at Thorne Rugby Club. Louise kindly told us lots of information and let us watch how the food bank runs. We can’t wait to go back and continue helping and donating.

To finish off our day, we’ve watched the film ‘The Lorax’ ready for hook week and enjoyed popcorn, biscuits and sweets! A good night sleep is definitely needed tonight!

Well done everyone! Mrs Spetch x

Reception Book, Bear and a Bun

Our first week at school is a special and fun time! We would like to invite you to join us on our first week back into Reception on Friday 1st September from 2.30-3.00pm.

We would like to invite you to bring a teddy bear and come and share a book with your child in the reception garden and indulge in a sweet treat!

Please arrive at the gates near your child’s class (on Ash Tree Road) and a member of the Reception team will come to let you in.

The children loved this event in Nursery and we hope this one will be just as lovely and will give us a chance to meet and get to know our parents too!

We hope you can join us.
