Grinch drawings

what a class of artists we have in class 8. Today they had a go at drawing the Grinch and they impressed me so much! Such fabulous artwork that put us all in the Christmas spirit…so excited for the rest of the week!

Christmas Competition!

Tomorrow, members of the school council will be going around school selling entries for our two Christmas competitions: ‘Guess the name of the elf’ and ‘Guess the number of candy canes.’ Entries cost 50p each and the winner will win either an elf teddy or the box of candy canes.

We will also be selling packets of ‘Reindeer Food’ for 50p each. Please send any money in tomorrow and throughout the week if you are wanting to enter the competition. Winners will be announced on Friday morning. Thank you.

Toys from home

Please remember to keep toys at home. Many children are bringing their own toys to school and this is causing upset in the classroom when they go missing.

Thank you for understanding

The Nursery Team

Letter Formation

This week we have been focussing on forming letters correctly. This week our focus was the ‘Curly Caterpillar Letters’. We learned that we need to start at the top and then move our pen round to the left to form the Curly Caterpillar shape. This shape then helped us to form the rest of the curly caterpillar letters correctly. It is important that when we write our letters they start and end in the write place. The children have really enjoyed forming their letters this week and have concentrated very well on following th3 instructions. We will continue to work on letter formation over the next two weeks.

Phonics Lab

In F2 we have been working super hard on our reading. Crew Schon blew me away with this activity. They had to read the word and find the matching picture hiding in the classroom. Their confidence grows everyday and it was lovely to see the children independently completing the activity and asking a grown up for help only when they felt they needed it.

Save the Children: Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 10th December, we will be having a Christmas jumper day to raise money for the ‘Save the Children’ charity. Children are encouraged to come to school wearing a Christmas jumper or t-shirt and bring a donation of £1. Thank you for your support, we can’t wait to see your Christmas outfits!

Nursery experience ‘A Christmas Journey’…

Tomorrow we are going to be visited by a team from Doncaster Schools Work Trust. The children in Nursery will take part in a workshop titled ‘A Christmas Journey’ which is a hands on interactive experience introducing them to the nativity story and exploring the birth of baby Jesus.

The charity are kindly donating their services for free and invite parents and carers to make a voluntary contribution towards covering the cost of their resources and the gift each child will take home. If you would like to do so please could you bring £2 to nursery tomorrow.

If you would like to find out more information about the charity it is available on their website http://dswt.co.uk/

Look out for a blog post tomorrow sharing with you the fun we get up to!
