Please try to practise these at home with your children. Mr Gerrard’s and Mrs Shaw’s groups have been working on these all week. Thanks 🙂

Today we are showing awareness of ‘anti bullying’ by wearing odd socks. We have also done the paper experiment where we said unkind things to a piece of paper. Every time a mean word was said I scrumpled the paper until it was finally in a ball.
We then apologised to the paper for our unkind words and with each ‘I’m sorry’ the paper was unfolded but the creases still remained. The paper was never the same as it was before.
This showed the children that we must always choose our words carefully and be kind. We can say sorry for our actions but they are not always forgotten and leave a lasting trace.
Year 3 learnt all about Remembrance Day and drew beautiful poppies and sang a song about Flanders Field in an ensemble. Here are all of their drawings accompanied by their wonderful singing. Well done Year 3, so proud of you!
Today, Class 7 have had a try at making their own battering rams, as part of DT. First we designed, then we made!
Class 7 made wreaths to remember and respect Remembrance Day. We observed a beautiful 2 minutes silence as well!
The children created poppy art today for Remembrance Day using paint, sponges, cardboard, leaves and tissue paper. Together as a class, we then collaborated and produced our own metaphor poem. This is how it goes…
Poppies are…
Red as tomatoes and hot peppers.
Bright as the sun.
Important as the soldiers.
Special as our nursery.
The children used play dough to roll, twist, poke and pinch to build up their muscles in their fingers ready for writing. The children then practised writing the grapheme ‘b’ linked to our phonics rhyme this week ‘BINGO’.
I wonder can you practise singing this rhyme at home? Say the phoneme ‘b’ and have a go at writing the grapheme? This could be in sand, glitter, on paper, with paint, crayons or chalk.
In Year 5, we built on our existing knowledge of Hinduism to focus on Darma, Karma and Reincarnation. We really enjoyed creating our own Darma symbols and held some really in-depth discussions about karma, the meaning and how we can adapt these beliefs into every day life to be the best versions of ourselves!
