Today in class 6 we tried to answer the question – ‘What is religion?’. We found out that there are 6 major world religions – Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhi, Judaism and Hinduism. We also discovered that although the teachings of each religion are different, all of them share three basic principles. Faith – that what they believe is true, Hope – that by following the teachings of their religion they can make the world a better place and Love – for their God and each other.
The children then collaborated to make a stunning piece of art work and decided that the answer to the question ‘What is religion?’ is a set of rules that people believe will help them live a good life.
This afternoon, the children have been looking at the main six religions that are practised throughout the world. We found out what some of the main beliefs are for each religion as well as the different places of worship used by each one.
This morning, Myles brought in some interesting items from the Second World War. He showed the class some old wartime ration books as well as some military insignia!
Today we have been learning about ‘ what is religion?’ We have looked and discussed the 6 main religions around the world. We listened to the bible story of ‘Adam and Eve walk with God in the garden’. The children then made posters to consolidate learning.
This year, we were lucky enough to have new Year 7s from both XPD and XPG working closely together at the Ullswater and Howtown Outward Bound centres. As a result, we were able to capture these wonderful highlights of both sets of students building Crew and expressing what it means to be Crew at the end of their week in their first ever presentation of learning.

XP Trust Crew Away Day @ YWP
Our Heads, Admin, Facilities and Comms Crews came together to further develop positive relationships and build Crew at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They spent the day exploring Case Studies to improve communication and conceptual understanding around day-to-day crucial aspects of what we do at XP Trust.
The day was extremely positive and productive – thank you to YWP for your hospitality!
Yesterday, we thought about the meaning of religion and which British Value links to learning about faith. We then looked into the 6 main religions and each group had a different religion to research about. I was very impressed with the engagement and collaboration when producing the anchor charts!
class 8 have had a lovely session out on the 3G with coach Morgan, working on movement, teamwork and following instructions. They all loved it and learnt new skills.
A huge thankyou to coach Morgan for taking the time to come in and teach the children these different activities.
