Teach Your Monster to Read

Some parents have reported that they were unable to log-in to this game or that the app is now charging a fee to download.

We have looked into this and you child is able to access this for free on a computer and only through this link (not through the main website page):

www.teachyoumonstertoread.com/u/3069607

You can then use your child’s login details.

If you would prefer to use this on a phone or tablet you will be able to download it from the store but it is currently charging 99p for the download. You can then log in using your child’s details. Please make sure you type the username and then the number next to the star. No password is required in the 3rd box.

Thursday – Phonics

We have been continuing to revise our phase 3 graphemes. Today we focused on the /oo/ digraph. This can make two sounds. A long sound and a short sound this is explained in the video below.

After watching the videos we tired to read and write some of the words by ourselves.

Extra challenge: Can you children write these sentences?

I can zoom to the moon.

I can look at a book.

Thursday Maths – Time

In Maths we started to learn about time. We said the days of the week in order and talked about what day it is today, what day will it be tomorrow and what day it was yesterday. We also talked about school days and weekend days and if we knew which days our special event were on e.g. swimming club on Wednesday’s.

Next we thought about the children’s daily routine on a school day and made a timeline of 5 things they do from waking up to going to school. Maybe you could draw a timeline at home too and talk about the things you do in the correct order.

Above are three links to different animals at Edinburgh Zoo where you can watch them live throughout the day via a webcam. This is a great opportunity to see these animals at different parts of the day and what they get up to.

Activity Ideas:

1. Draw a picture of your favourite animal that you’ve been watching.

2. Write a description about your favourite animal.

3. Fact File/A day in the life of a… your favourite animal.

Have fun guys and email in any activities that you complete 🌟

Would be great to see photos of you joining in with this at home. Please share them with us!

Fantastic maths work!

Ahhh sorry for the photo spam! I am just so proud of class 10! Last week we made 3D shapes using lots of different materials. Before any input the children told me that we needed to make 2D shapes in order to build up to 3D shapes. Just look at what they produced! Although we didn’t rate the spaghetti very much…

Our new book ‘Journey’

Class 10 ordering our new class story to support with our writing- it has no words so it was pretty tricky to order! All of the children took it in turns to choose a picture that they thought came first and shared their ideas with their groups. They then showed brilliant team work as they then decided altogether what order they should go in.
