Y2 Family Learning Opportunity – 4th November 2021

Year 2 would like to invite you to join us for a family learning event on Thursday 4th November …

As you know, we have been learning all about being superheroes in our local community and about how we can make a difference to the world around us. With this in mind, we would like you to join us in a litter picking event in the Thorne community when we return to school after half-term.

If you would like to join us, please arrive at school on 4th November at 1.30pm and we aim to return to school by 2.30pm ready for hometime. A text will be sent by school as a reminder.

We look forward to seeing you then,

Mrs Dutton and Mrs Shaw 🙂

Black History Month support in class 8

Class 8 took part in a zoom call today with Mayowa Precious Agbabiaka, who is supporting Black History Month. She has written a book called ‘There’s rice at home’ and read it aloud to the children. She told us that she has written the book in 13 languages, which we thought was extremely inspirational.

What a great experience

Recipe card launch

Thank you so much to all of our parents and carers who came to celebrate our key stage 1 Summer 2021 expedition. There was a tasting session for everyone to try our superb food that the children had created recipe cards for.

There was a fantastic atmosphere and all of the food disappeared so it must have tasted great!

Well done children on creating such a fantastic piece of work.

If anyone would like to buy the recipe cards, we are selling them in school for £5 each or 2 packs for £7.50.

Thanks again for celebrating and supporting us

Crew legend!

On a Friday morning in crew Shaw the children choose who they think deserves a shout out certificate. Matilda was the one today, for being kind, caring and helpful!!

well done Matilda from everyone in crew Shaw and from me too, you certainly deserve it!!

#take10toread

Aidan was making the most of the glorious weather today and decided to take 10 minutes out to enjoy a book. What a place to read it too 🙂

Hope everyone manages to take 10 minutes out for themselves today too…nothing better than getting engrossed into a good book.

Enjoy your weekend

Year 2 partitioning

The children have been grappling with partitioning over the last few lessons. They have been using part, part whole models to make 2 digit numbers in different ways. I am really impressed with their Stickability Stan attitudes. Well done class 8

Balancing and shape work in PE

Crew Shaw thoroughly enjoyed their first PE lesson today.
They made wide shapes on their feet…

and wide shapes on the floor…

They then made themselves into the smallest shape possible before making different shapes with a partner.

Their next task was to balance on different parts of their bodies, before finishing the lesson with a class circle, where everyone held hands and balanced on one leg.

Well done Crew Shaw, you were amazing today! Xx
