Good Morning to everyone in Year 1! How are you all feeling today?
I have uploaded today’s work on to the google classroom and on to the home learning platform on the school website. If you have not joined the google classroom yet then you should have an invitation in your email inviting you.
I have also put a post on the google classroom asking how you are feeling today. Please try and respond on here or on there before 11am so that we know you are safe and well.
If you have any problems please email [email protected]
Take care
Mrs Jackson and Miss Rodgers
Some parents have reported that they were unable to log-in to this game or that the app is now charging a fee to download.
We have looked into this and you child is able to access this for free on a computer and only through this link (not through the main website page):
www.teachyoumonstertoread.com/u/3069607
You can then use your child’s login details.
If you would prefer to use this on a phone or tablet you will be able to download it from the store but it is currently charging 99p for the download. You can then log in using your child’s details. Please make sure you type the username and then the number next to the star. No password is required in the 3rd box.
Starting from Monday Miss Rodgers and I will be adding daily learning tasks to the ‘google classroom’ which is an online learning aspect of our school website. To access your child’s learning tasks you will need to sign into Google Docs on their behalf.
To sign into Google Docs from a tablet, phone or laptop follow the instructions below. Further instructions for other devices can be found on the school website home learning page.
If at any point you have any questions about accessing google docs, log in details or how to use google classroom, please email me on [email protected].
Many thanks for your patience and continued support at this uncertain time.
Mrs Jackson
All our children from Y1-Y6 are already able to access ttrockstars, a programme that enables them to practice their times tables. For the foreseeable future during school closures, they will also have access to the sister website ‘Numbots’.
NumBots is an online game and playing little and often will significantly improve your child’s recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts. These are critical foundations in maths so we are excited by the impact NumBots will have.
They can play at home on the website (play.numbots.com) or the NumBots app, available for Amazon, Android and Apple devices. Children might need some help navigating to the website and entering the details but once they’re in, they just need some quiet space to get on with the games.
All the children already have a username and password that allows them to logon to ttrockstars. The same login details will allow them access to numbots too.
Most children’s login details in Y1 and Y2 are:
Username: firstname
Password: 123
There may be the odd slight variation due to more than one child with the same name. If you have any problems logging your child on then please email me at [email protected] and I will email back with their personal log in details so that they can get straight on learning and having fun at the same time!
Phonics Play are currently offering a free service! This is a great website for practising phonics skills. You can log in using the username and password on the image below to have full access to the site. Currently children in Year 1 are expected to be working within Phase 4 and 5 but some children may feel more confident with the Phase 2 and phase 3 games until they know some of the Phase 5 sounds.
By the end of Y1 children are expected to be able to sound out and read words within Phase 5.
This is also a really good resource for children in Y2 who need to further develop their phonic skills and for rapid reading practice.
Well done to these super stars for being our housepoint winners this week.
Keep up your amazing efforts and keep setting the high standards.
Remember everyone to put your housepoints on!

Today children in classes 3 and 4 will come home with a username and password for the app ‘Teach you Monster to Read’. Yesterday the KS1 children also brought these home. This app is a great tool for learning the phonic sounds and learning to read words and sentences. This is a great way to improve confidence in reading whilst having fun playing games. We hope the children will enjoy using it.
In addition you can sign up to the ‘Oxford Owl’ website for free and you will have access to lots of age-appropriate ebooks very similar to the reading books we have in school. Sign-up is quick and easy and there are no costs involved.
