Class 6’s visit to Weston Park Museum

What a wonderful day we have had today on our visit to Weston Park Museum in Sheffield. We took part in an awesome history/art workshop where we sketched buildings from Sheffield’s past then used these to create screen print ‘tiles’ to create a colourful banner, and explored the wonderfully interesting artefacts on display within the museum. The children behaved marvellously and were a real credit to our Green Top Crew. Check out the photo gallery below.

Let’s hope Y2 have just as good a day on their trip tomorrow.

Small acts of kindness

I was super proud of Shae and Adam today when they showed just how wonderfully kind they are.

When one of her classmates erupted in chicken spots during our Kixx session this afternoon, Shae showed true empathy by saying how sorry she felt that he was having to miss out on our PE session and Adam showed outstanding generosity by not only sharing his birthday cake with our class, but making sure the pieces that were left over were given to all the teachers in KS1!

What was school like in the past?

A huge thanks to all our family members who came to our family learning event this morning. The children were very interested to find out the answers to questions such as…what was your favourite lesson?, what did you do at playtime? and what school did you go to?.

A special thanks to class 6’s experts, Eva’s mummy, Reeva’s mummy, Thea’s mummy and Ezra’s Nanna (and Hero) who gave us great answers to our questions.

National Numeracy Day – 18th May

We are looking forward to celebrating National Numeracy Day on Wednesday 18th May!

Maths is all around us and in the run up to National Numeracy Day, I would love for you to take some photos of you that link to maths! Maybe it will be a picture of you using money to pay for something in the shop, maybe it will be of how many steps you have walked in a day, or maybe it will be of you practising your maths skills!

How creative can you be finding maths around your home and in the community? Please send all of your photographs to [email protected] so that I can make a video to celebrate maths!

Also, check out the official website (link below) because there are lots of fun activities that you can do with your children!

Class 6 Times Table Rock Stars Accounts

Tomorrow the children in class 6 will be bringing home their log in details for their TT Rockstars accounts. Please keep these safe so that the children can begin to practise their times tables on this exciting and fun platform. The first time they log in they will be invited to chose their rockstar personality and select their style from the TTRS shop. As they play they will earn coins to purchase different looks and accessories. How cool is that?

Children’s University Reading Programme

Evening everyone

Tonight the children have brought home some wonderful resources provided by the Children’s University to encourage and promote a love of reading. In the packs is a reading map which should be ticked every time the children read, whether it be to an adult or simply for pleasure, as well as lots of fabulous stationary for the children to keep. We have begun to fill in the maps today in reading crew. Please click on the link below to watch a video which will explain the programme in more detail.

As you all know, reading early and well is one of the most important skills we can develop in our youngsters and this scheme is an awesome way to encourage this.

If you have any questions please ask.

Outstanding HoWLs

Take a look at class 6’s superdooperstars for today. All of these little smashers showed fantastic Get Smart and Work Hard learning habits by displaying excellent effort or pushing themselves for green standard.

I couldn’t be prouder of you guys. Keep up the good work.
