Maths measuring equipment

Today class 8 were learning about mass and the type of equipment we could use to measure the weight of items around the classroom.

Lots of fun and great discussions about which objects were heavier and lighter and whether we would use grams or kilograms to measure them.

Super work, well done!

Developing Our Pre-Writing Skills

Y6 Tropical World

We had a lovely day at Tropical World today!

Our first activity was a workshop learning all about the different animals groups as well as how animals have adapted to suit their environment.

After out workshop, we explored Tropical World and enjoyed looking at all of the different animals! It was extremely warm so we felt like we were in a real rainforest!

Great job!

A huge well done to Tallon who worked extremely hard today to write a beautifully neat fishbone to help him remember the features of a letter. Great job Tallon!

Green Top’s Digital Leaders

Children from Year 2-5 had a fun-filled time at XP East today as we met up with children who are also digital leaders from across the trust. We began the day with a brilliant tour of XP and XP East before working hard to understand the role of a digital leader, why digital leaders are important and the qualities a digital leader should have. I was blown away by the children’s efforts and collaboration but also the courage they demonstrated to share their ideas in front of a big audience! A great day was had by all and the children will now share their learning with the leadership team at Green Top. Thank you to Mr. Portman and XP for having us for the day…we had a great time!

3, 2, 1 Debate

In English, crew Oldridge have debating for and against banning plastic straws. They have had to draw on their learning from expedition sessions and ‘Get Smart’ by collaborating and sharing their knowledge with their team. Each team made some excellent points. Well done!

We are storytellers

This morning in English, the children worked collaboratively to tell a story just from the images. They had to listen carefully to each others ideas and explain their opinions to their group. We then went on to listen to the story and discuss whether our own ideas had been similar or different to the real plot.

I really enjoyed listening to your discussions and story telling.
