Year 5 – Reading fluency pro’s

This week, we put our fluency skills to the test and the children worked in pairs to use fluency assessment grids to assess their partners reading. They used the grid to highlight and give supportive critique and feedback to each other. It was lovely to hear lovely, kind feedback being shared! Well done everyone!

Key stage 1 community crew assembly

A huge well done to all of our winners in our community crew assembly today. It was great to be back after the Easter holidays and celebrate all of these amazing achievements!!!

A huge well done to Crew Schon on 100% attendance!

Well done to all of the readers who have achieved their reading certificates this week…there were so many of you!

Congratulations to Henry and Kuba, whose writing has improved so much they have been awarded a sparkly pencil!

And of course a huge well done to our Crew champions this week! I love hearing the reasons why you deserve to be champions each week…we are all so proud of you!

How do class 6 measure up?

We’ve had lots of fun this week as we learned about length and height in our maths sessions. We compared some objects in our classroom and measured them using non-standard measurements such as wooden sticks, paper clips and blocks. We even compared ourselves!

We found out that Mikayla is tallest in our class and that Leven is the smallest!

Great job as usual, superstars x

Year 5 – XP Outdoors and PE

This half term Year 5 will be taking part in XP outdoors every TUESDAY during G-Block. Children will need a change of appropriate clothes and footwear each week.

We are also lucky to have a YourPE coach again this half term. PE will be outside every FRIDAY so children will need their outdoor PE kits. It is important that children have appropriate footwear to avoid injury.

Thank you for your support with this,

Year 5 Crew
