Y3/4 Celebration of Learning

Year 3/4 will celebrate their expedition ‘Ancient Innovators: What did the Romans do for Doncaster?’ on Thursday 7th December between 2pm and 3pm.

We would like to invite Y3/4 parents to a coffee afternoon in the hall where you can drop in between the times of 2pm and 3pm to sit with your child and look through all of their learning on the Romans! We will also launch our website all about the Romans which the children have been working hard on for their expedition product!

More details will follow but we look forward to celebrating our learning with you soon!

Crew Knowles: Odd Sock Day!

We had lots of odd socks yesterday in support of Anti-Bullying Week! We talked about the importance of kindness and celebrating everyone’s differences. We also listened to a lovely story read by the Learning Council all about being the kind kid!

Here are just some of our odd socks!

Lest We Forget…

Our children have spent the week leading up to Armistice day learning about the reason we wear the red poppy and have produced these stunning examples to display in our corridors.

A beautiful and fitting tribute to the fallen.

Christmas Themed Family Bingo Night

On Thursday 7th December, Year 6 will be hosting a ‘Christmas Themed Family Bingo Night’ in the school hall. Last Summer’s event was a huge success and lots of fun was had by all who attended.

This is a family event therefore all children must be accompanied by a grown-up so that they can play the game. Entrance tickets cost 50p per person – a ticket must be purchased for each person attending the event.  Admission is by ticket only.

Due to fire regulations ticket availability is strictly limited.  Tickets will go on sale this week on Wednesday 15th November .  If you would like to purchase tickets, please send money in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and the number of tickets required.  The Year 6 children will collect money from classrooms and allocate tickets accordingly.

Doors will open at 5:30pm with ‘Eyes Down’ at 6:00pm.

The cards for each game will be on sale on the night and there will be 6 different coloured games during the evening with lots of Christmas / chocolate themed prizes. Bingo cards will cost 20p each or cost £1 a coloured strip for 6 cards. You can even take advantage of our offer of 6 coloured strips for £5! Of course, you can play as many cards as you can manage in each game.

Refreshments will be on sale during the evening and all funds raised are to go towards the Year 6 leavers and end of year celebrations.   A raffle will also be held – if you are able to donate a prize for this it would be greatly appreciated.

I do hope you will be able to support us at this event. The more people who come the better the atmosphere so please do try to fit this event into your diary; get on your Christmas jumpers and come and have some fun!

Beautiful Work This Week

Flying Scotsman Centenary

Students from XP Doncaster were very lucky to be able to welcome Flying Scotsman home today as guests of Doncaster Council. They had the opportunity to see this iconic engine up close and meet so many people who have made this special visit happen.

They were also able to hand copies of the newly published book ‘Rail CIty’ to those who had so kindly contributed to it … but more on that next week!

XP Gateshead: Unheard voices of WWI

Last year, Y8 at XPG recorded a radio broadcast of unheard voices from WWI. They did this to honour the sacrifices of those who are sometimes forgotten when we remember the victims of WWI.

We are proud to share that this broadcast will be played on Memory Lane Radio on Saturday 11th November at 11am (their Armistice day slot!) Reuben visited the studio with Mrs Downes and was interviewed about the project. We will share a link to this interview in the coming days.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow to hear this beautiful work on the radio!
