Fancy doing a little extra at home?

If you are looking for a little extra to do at home with your child, please practice spotting these digraphs and trigraphs on their own and in words. See if your child can read and spell some words containing these sounds.

Your child will be awarded with 10 house points each time they read or write 5 words.

With many thanks for your support in your child’s learning.

We made zebra biscuits!

On Wednesday we made zebra biscuits by following a set of instructions. Can your child tell you the step by step instructions we followed?

Fabulous Phonics

In KS1 we teach phonics every day to support our children with their reading and writing skills. This week we have been learning the wh, ey, ew and oe digraphs.

I wonder if you could practice reading and writing words with these digraphs in at home…

wh – when, why, what, who, where

ey – money, donkey, valley, honey, turkey

ew – new, crew, blew, knew, pew

oe – toe, foe, sloe

Ryan and Faith worked so hard today and were able to put their new learnt words into sentences. Well done! 🙂

Beautiful handwriting in Class 6

Ruby, Miriam, Dante, Ellie and Bradley all tried really hard with their hand writing practice today. Well done! You’re all amazing!

I wonder…could you do some handwriting at home to improve your cursive letter formation in your homework book?

Money Magic!

The children have been very busy in Class 6 revisiting and revising their money knowledge to help them add amounts.

2D shapes in Year 1

This week Year One are busy learning all about 2D shapes. Can you go on a shape hunt at home to find some 2D shapes and talk about their properties? Take photos or draw them in your homework book. You will be awarded with 15 house points for doing some extra homework! Happy hunting!

Oliver’s Sock Puppets

Oliver has been very busy at home this week making some wonderful sock puppets to go on our jungle display. Well done Oliver! We love seeing the amazing home learning you are busy doing.

Please remember everyone to read 3 times per week at home and log it in your reading diary. Every time you read you will be rewarded with 5 house points.

The wonder of critique…

Yesterday, the children in Class 6 created some wonderful jelly fish drawings through the power of critique. The children looked like scientists at a photograph of a jelly fish and carefully had to draw it. We looked at pattern, shape angles and lines. The children were given opportunity to reflect and peer critique each others work to enable them to edit and improve.

Well done to all of you for trying so hard and looking carefully just like scientists and artists do!
