We finally found the culprit! It was Mr Ambler. He made the mess whilst he was looking for paint. He said sorry and said next time he will ask first! We decided to let him off this time but not before we gave him a surprise visit to the Police Van!

The children loved investigating the crime! There were lots of suspects. We even had a visit from the Police and they let us look inside their Police van!
Today we had a mystery in Reception. Someone made a big mess in our classroom. We had to be detectives and look for clues. We found some shoe prints and compared them to the patterns on the bottom of our shoes. We measured the hand prints and footprints and compared them to ours and then we swabbed our finger nails to check that nobody had the paint under their nails. We were all innocent so who did it???
What a fun time we had today. Investigating a class room crime. The children came in from outside to find the classroom had been destroyed. How shocked they all were. They quickly got to work discussing what could of happened and how we need to go about it. They learned all about checking for suspects and proving it wasn’t them. Then this afternoon we followed clues to figure out who the real culprit was before going to look inside a real police van and telling them all about our day.
A massive shout out to these children for their wonderful homework over the last few weeks. The children have discovered more at home about who our real life heroes are and confidently shared their work with friends in class. Homework includes drawings of police cars, recycling, recognising shapes on an ambulance, designing a plate of healthy foods, creating thank you cards and a picture of a lollipop lady. A huge thank you to all our families who have donated to the food bank. This morning they were very thankful to receive your donations and are hoping to personally come and thank the children in school.
Class 8 have been fantastic at working in groups to identify the features of a non fiction text today. This is an area of writing we don’t get to see very often in year 2 in English but the children were really focused and were great at supporting each other to remember what we had modelled as a class. Well done class 8 great effort!
We had a great time today visiting Mr Humprey (Science Teacher) at Trinity Academy to listen to a lecture about space. We learnt many new facts and also how to give a lecture to an audience. Green Top staff were blown away by the amazing questions our children asked and the sophisticated facts they shared with each other.
Well done Chloe, Jamie, Jack and Eve for winning the raffle prizes for our reading competition. We are super proud of your hard work.
Don’t forget everyone there will be another draw in 4 weeks so another 8 chances to get a ticket with your name on it. Remember bring your reading pack into school to change!
