Reception – Tangrams

We had lots of fun learning about tangrams yesterday and using the pieces of the tangram to replicate pictures. We had to manipulate, rotate and flip shapes in order to create the pictures.

The children in Early years have loved our visit today from Mr Dan. He came and performed a fantastic Punch and Judy show that had the children laughing from start to finish. A huge Thank you to Mr Dan for an amazing morning.

Phonics

This week in phonics the children will be learning /ow/ and our shared reader is called Bells and Buds.

Our new red words will be ‘today’, ‘when’ and ‘what’.

In our intervention groups we will be remembering /sh/ and /th/ and our red words are ‘we, ‘are’, ‘you’ and ‘into’

If you have any questions about phonics please speak to your child’s crew leader.

Change of Clothes

Please could we ask you to provide a change of clothes in your child’s bag each day. This is to ensure they have clean and dry clothes to change into should they have an accident. We would also be very grateful to receive any donations of tights, socks and underwear that are no longer of use to you so we can restock our spare clothes boxes in school. Thank you very much, the EYFS Team.

National Numeracy Day – 18th May

We are looking forward to celebrating National Numeracy Day on Wednesday 18th May!

Maths is all around us and in the run up to National Numeracy Day, I would love for you to take some photos of you that link to maths! Maybe it will be a picture of you using money to pay for something in the shop, maybe it will be of how many steps you have walked in a day, or maybe it will be of you practising your maths skills!

How creative can you be finding maths around your home and in the community? Please send all of your photographs to [email protected] so that I can make a video to celebrate maths!

Maths Shout Outs!

Look who ah been caught working super hard in Maths. These boys have thoroughly enjoyed challenging themselves to represent numbers using their knowledge of tens and ones. They also found lots of different combinations to represent the numbers drawing on their previous knowledge.
