Digital Leaders

Notice for all students in Year 2 to Year 5!

Students in Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 have an amazing opportunity to become a Digital Leader within their class.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their own individual skills when it comes to the latest technology. Children who are successful will get the opportunity to visit XP East and potentially the Apple Store to have further training on how to use technology including iPads, MacBooks and some of the other great products that are used throughout school. Our Digital Leaders will then become the experts who can then pass on their knowledge to others.

Below is a link to the Digital Leaders website where you can find out further information.

Applications will need to be sent to Mr Taylor by Thursday 3rd February explaining why you would make a fantastic Digital Leader. This can be done in a format of your choice including a letter, slides or even a video showcasing your IT skills.

We look forward to receiving your applications!

Terrific Tarsia!

This morning crew Mumby were tasked with completing tarsias based on their knowledge of multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1000. This was a very challenging task however I was so impressed by the children’s resilience and stickability to complete the puzzle! I am looking forward to seeing this knowledge being used in problem solving as the week goes on. Great work Crew!

A great week of ALL Block (Language and Literature)

What a great week in Crew Mumby- especially in our ALL block sessions. ALL block is a chance for children to immerse themselves in a range of texts, discuss them as part of a group and develop a range of reading strategies for unpicking the meaning. This week I have been blown away by the high levels of child-led collaboration and dedication to use the time effectively. Above all, we have just LOVED reading this week!! On top of this, we have also begun our new class novel ‘My Name is River’ we have enjoyed learning about the main characters Dylan and Floyd and their quest to find Floyd’s brother who is missing in Brazil.

The photos below show our crew working hard in an ALL block session:

Check out our fantastic anchor charts!

This week, children have been busy immersing themselves in our new expedition- focused on rainforests and climate emergency. The children were tasked with creating anchor charts to build their back ground knowledge in preparation for expedition lessons to begin next week. The children used a range of sources from poetry to ‘fact splats’ to deepen their understanding of the different rainforest layers. Keep your eyes peeled for our next blog post- we will reveal this term’s learning environment!!
