Well done to all of Y5/6 today who celebrated their learning from our current expedition ‘How can we help our world survive?’ The children spoke with great enthusiasm and could recall prior learning throughout our 3 case studies. In addition to this, their art work was amazing and we would all like to give a shout out to Mrs Green for her awesome art lessons in G Block! Well done Y5/6 everyone is very proud of you

Red Nose Day!
A reminder that red noses will continue to be on sale this week up until the day itself. They are priced at £1.50 per red nose and we only have a limited number remaining so make sure that you get yours bought early! School councillors will be bringing them round during morning crew.
‘The best lesson ever!’
‘The best lesson ever’ was just one of many quotes today as we embarked on making our photo frames for our expedition lesson. The children used mitre blocks to accurately cut 45 degree angles to create a high quality finish, ensuring that their work met the success criteria. We have had great fun today making our frames and it was lovely to see the children grappling with a practical task. Keep your eyes peeled for how our work develops and how it links to Mrs Green’s art sessions! Well done crew Mumby, your crew norms were brilliant and you used the equipment safely and sensibly!
Red Nose Day
Friday 18th March 2020 is Red Nose Day in the UK. At Green Top we will be raising money for the event by selling red nose’s. Red nose’s will go on sale from tomorrow and school councillors will be bringing them to each class in the mornings, priced at £1.50. On the day, we will also be raising money by wearing something red and bringing in a £1 donation. To go along with this, the school council have also thought of some activities that we will be doing in the afternoon.

Year 5 visit Tropical World
On Friday, year 5 visited Tropical World in Leeds as part of our current expedition. The children enjoyed immersing themselves in the rainforest environment and linked this to their learning from school.During the workshop, the children demonstrated great recall by using our work in science to develop their understanding of animal classification. Great work year 5! Enjoy the pictures below:
Green Top’s Digital Leaders
Children from Year 2-5 had a fun-filled time at XP East today as we met up with children who are also digital leaders from across the trust. We began the day with a brilliant tour of XP and XP East before working hard to understand the role of a digital leader, why digital leaders are important and the qualities a digital leader should have. I was blown away by the children’s efforts and collaboration but also the courage they demonstrated to share their ideas in front of a big audience! A great day was had by all and the children will now share their learning with the leadership team at Green Top. Thank you to Mr. Portman and XP for having us for the day…we had a great time!
