Crew Jackson – Accelerated Reader Reward

Before half term, as a crew we made a pledge that when our average reached 13 we would celebrate with a party/ice-cream treat. Last Wednesday we finally reached 13 after being ‘stuck’ on 11 for a number of weeks. Everyone enjoyed crisps, ice-cream and chill out time. It was so hot on Friday the ice-cream was definitely a welcome treat! We were too hot for party games so will save these for a cooler day!

Crew Jackson – Scientific anchor charts

This afternoon, we began our DT case study. Before we can start any practical food technology, we need to ensure we understand the importance of food hygiene and safe storing and handling. We discussed food poisoning, cross-contamination and what we can do to minimise the risk. The children went on to create anchor charts that showcased their learning.

Well done everyone for great collaboartion.

My little rockstars!🥁🎤🎸

Year 5 were awesome at identifying and moving to the pulse of a rock song, imitating playing the guitar and drums.

The children were amazing as they tapped out the pulse of Livin’ On A Prayer as the class performed the song. 🥁

They also imitated playing the guitar and rocked in time to the music. 🎸

Jon Bon Jovi eat your heart out! 🎤🎶🎤🎶🎤🎶🎤

Y5/6 Community Crew Celebrations

We had a lovely community crew today celebrating lots of successes! We heard some great shoutouts and appreciations for each other and learnt who was winning the Accelerated Reader competition!

Check out some of our Star Reader’s here:

We also had lots of HoWLs point winners for the children who have worked hard, being kind and got smart this week!

Finally, we celebrated our new ‘Out of this World’ children who will receive the yellow tshirt to wear this week! Congratulations to all the winners – it is thoroughly deserved!

We Will Rock You

Year 5 were singing stars today performing the Bon Jovi classic Livin’ On A Prayer.
They then listened to the rock anthem We Will Rock You by Queen and each class agreed that the hook of the song was the famous ‘clap, clap, stomp’ rhythm. They identified the similarities and differences between the two songs and then blew me away as they recorded the various musical elements, including the pulse, rhythm and texture of both songs.
Well done my super rockstars!

Crew Jackson – XP outdoors

So lovely to see everyone working collaboratively in XP outdoors this morning. The children worked together to collect their own resources from the outside classroom to then build and make a catapult.

Well done Crew Jackson!

Y5/6 Family Learning!

Wow! Year 5/6 had such a lovely Family Learning event this afternoon! They were each able to choose an activity to participate in and each activity linked to our current expedition about looking after our minds and bodies.

The activities on offer were Zumba, football rounders, tag rugby, bench ball, outdoor cooking and making healthy meals!

It looked like all the children and adults were having lots of fun and it was great to see the adult participation. Thank you to all that attended and we hope you enjoyed it!
