In English this week, we’ve been making lots of predictions and having lots of discussions about our new class text, The three little wolves and the big bad pig!

The children have been making great links between our new text and the story of The three little pigs and how they think the stories are going to be similar.

I cant wait to see if some of your predictions are correct! 🌟

Expedition Learning 🗺

To finish our ‘Geography Case Study’ we have been busy locating familiar places in and around Thorne and placing them on our own maps.

The children were great at spotting lots of different places and could explain what certain things represented on the map such as grass areas and the canal.

As well as looking at places on a map, the children have investigated different places on an aerial photograph of Thorne and can explain the difference between an aerial photo and a map.

Well done everyone on your hard work. So many Connecting Connie’s! Also, super proud to see you all using your rulers correctly 😍

Keep it up superstars! 🌟

Maths Week 2020

We are very excited for maths week!

We will be celebrating maths and to do this we will be doing the following:

  • Each day you will be informed of a challenge you can complete at home and bring into school
  • At 3pm on Thursday (in the school hall), parents are invited to join the learning council to play maths games and look at how you can support your children with maths at home
  • Friday is NSPCC Maths day so we will be having a ‘maths’ dress up day (£1 donation) and a bun sale to raise money for the charity
  • Buns will be on sale for 50p (we will also be accepting donations of buns, cake and biscuits)

Please see the link below for dress up ideas and more information about NSPCC maths day:

Monday’s challenge is:  Who can find the oldest coin?  This needs to be a coin that you can currently spend in the UK.  Place in an envelop child’s name, the coin enclosed and date!  Good Luck!

Thanks

Snuggle up, get cosy and read! 📚☕️

Today, Class 7 have launched their ‘Snuggle up and Read’ suitcase.

Each Wednesday, we will be selecting a member of Class 7 to take our reading suitcase home and enjoy it with their grown ups. It explains all about it on the poster such as, how it should be used and what should be brought back in each week.

We are keeping a close eye on the children and seeing who is trying really hard to return their reading packs on a Tuesday and Friday each week, and will be giving it out to those children as a big well done! 👍🏼

As always, keep up the hard work everyone!! You’ve done amazing so far with our reading challenge, getting lots of raffle tickets so keep pushing on and challenging yourselves further.

Well done Ronnie on being the first lucky person to take it home this week! Don’t forget to bring it back next Tuesday please so that we can get it ready for the next person on Wednesday 😌
