Wow! What an absolutely beautiful Community Crew Meeting this morning in Crew 5/6! It was wonderful to hear of all the amazing learning everyone has been doing and how our award winners have demonstrated our Character Traits this week!
We had some extra special shout outs and mentions for our Crew Champion winners! What a lovely start to our Thursday Morning!
On Monday 11th December Year 5 and Year 6 are having a Harry Potter day, where they will take part in a variety of themed activities linked to the film/book series. The children are invited to come dressed up in clothes linked to Harry Potter if they choose; please note there is no expectation for you to purchase a costume for this themed day.
When we visit Harry Potter Studios, it will be the ‘Hogwarts in the snow’ experience. As part of our themed day, we would like to watch the film ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ as it has a number of winter snow scenes. The film rating is 12A – if you would NOT consent to your child watching this film, please let your child’s crew leader know as soon as possible so alternative plans can be made.
This morning we began to write our final speeches about saving endangered animals. The children were so focused on producing their best – thinking about presentation and all the edits and improvements they had already made in green pen. Well done – I can’t wait to read the final versions.
Today is International Jaguar Day and as part of our expedition learning we took part in a live webinar with an expert from the World Wildlife Fund. We learnt lots of new facts but I was also impressed with the knowledge that some of the children already had and could share with our crew.
A reminder that this Friday is the Christmas Light Switch on and choir will be taking part in performing some Christmas songs.
The market starts from 5pm and our time slot on stage is 7:05pm. If you are able to join us please meet Mrs Small and I near the stage area which is located on Horse Fair Green. Please arrive 15 minutes before our slot.
If children wish to wear festive headwear or accessories this would also be welcomed!
It might still be November but we have already started the winter and Christmas themed arts and crafts! I love how independent you all are at being creative – each week you all produce your own version of our themed task. Check out our wonderful winter wonderlands!
On Monday 4th December at 5pm we would like to invite you to join us in the hall for our celebration of learning for our expedition – ‘How can we help our planet survive?’
You will have the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea whilst you look at your child’s expedition work, listen to your child read you their speech about saving endangered animals and view their final product.
We can not wait to share their amazing framed artwork with you. This will be available for you to take home on the night; all we ask is that you bring some change to throw in to our donation buckets. All money raised will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund to support endangered animals.
Shout out to some of our Y6 children who took part in the Thorne pyramid tag rugby competition at Moorends Rec. The children braved the cold & wet conditions to play some excellent rugby! Well done Y6!
I have been notified by TTRS (Maths Circle) that many children are using out-of-date versions of the game which may not have the new functionalities.
It’s important that they use the latest versions of the app and and website to ensure they receive the most secure, feature-rich and enjoyable experience of Times Tables Rock Stars. Some of the versions are so far behind that they’re missing out on key updates.
Solution:
If using the website at home, please ask parents to visit play.ttrockstars.com/reset to load the latest version in their device’s browser. Otherwise please to update the Times Tables Rock Stars app from the app store.
Another lovely morning listening to lots of positive comments about our Crew Champions this week. Well done to our Howl Point winners and to Crew Barnett and Crew Walton/Oldridge for winning the total prize!
