Today, in Year 5, we looked at Marcus Rashford and the impact he had on our country during the pandemic.
The children built on prior knowledge through the use of images, text and videos to develop their understanding of his inspirational role. They then reflected on Marcus Rashford with their own opinions using evidence to justify themselves.
This Friday, Friday 30th April, marks the beginning of the Captain Tom 100 Challenge which will continue until Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May.Â

This morning, Class 16 have hooked themselves into our photography case study. We focused on looking at how important different camera angles are and then put them into practice. I was blown away with the quality of pictures that were taken this morning. Well done Class 16!
Over the last two days, we have focused on mindfulness and meditation as part of looking after our well-being. In Crew, each child have completed their own individual part of a colouring jigsaw that we are going to piece together and display in our classroom to show how togetherness is important and that each crew member is a piece to our own crew jigsaw!
This week in Class 16 we have been busy presenting our expedition ‘How is evolution important to existence?’ to other schools in the trust. I would like to give a huge shoutout to Dylan, Alex, Brendan, Lily and Angel who presented their expedition work to Y5 children at Carcroft Primary. Mr Gerrard and his crew were blown away by your learning and were very impressed with your presentation skills and very kindly critiqued our product. Here are a few examples they shared:
We notice – That you spoke clearly
We praise – The resilience and determination of everyone who spoke and shared their learning.
We praise – How prepared you were for your presentation and how amazing it looked.
Well done once again for an amazing expedition Class 16!
As part of our well being week in crew. This morning we have enjoyed a morning of meditation. Luckily, nobody fell asleep and we all felt relaxed ready for our morning of G Block. Well done Crew Ambler!
Y6 have been busy putting the finishing touches to their Google Slide for their expedition products today. As part of our product and celebration, we are presenting our slides via Google Hangout to some of the other schools in the trust! Our slides are an end product of all of our learning on evolution.
Today in Crew Ambler, we have been developing our communication and team work skills. Our first task saw us take it in turns to be blind folded with our partner directing us around the course. We challenged ourselves further by not being allowed to speak to each other. I would like to give my crew a huge shout out for their impressive team work and communication skills throughout the task. Well done Crew Ambler!
