What a great afternoon we had for our KS2 Sports Day! We are so proud of all the children for getting involved!
Category : Miss Walton’s Class
Well done to our KS2 boys who took part in our first legacy competition yesterday at Doncaster Tennis Club. It was great to see some fantastic tennis skills on show and all the boys enjoying themselves. Well done for finishing 5th boys and a big shout out to George for winning the sportsmanship award. Bring on the next competition!
Year 5 – National Mining Museum
Yesterday, Year 5 had a fabulous day exploring the National Mining Museum. The children were able to go down 140 metres in a cage and explore a real mine. The children were blown away by the facts and stories they were told about miners and their communities. Unfortunately, technology is not allowed underground so there’s no photographs to show how fantastic it is but I’m sure the children will have lots of fantastic stories to share! We then had a lovely time exploring the different places to build our knowledge even more. We even met some pit ponies and saw some canaries similar to what they would have had in the mine. The children’s behaviour was exemplary and members of staff commented on their amazing engagement, attitudes and respect! Well done Year 5!

Crew Walton-Winners!!!

Well done Crew Walton for your outstanding efforts on Sports Day!! You all showed such courage and deserve to be the best Crew!! Treats are on me!
Year 5 – Visit to the book fair!
This morning, as part of our reading lesson, we enjoyed visiting the book fair. It was great to see everyone sharing books with their friends and getting excited over new books!

XP Outdoors – Year 5 workshop
Today, our Year 5 Crews headed down to the XP Outdoors workshop for an exciting hands-on session in tool work. Working together, they learned how to safely split logs using axes and practiced their whittling techniques with knives. It was a brilliant opportunity to build confidence, and show respect for the tools — all while having fun outdoors!
KS2 Sports Day

Just a reminder to parents and carers about our KS2 sports day. Sports day will be on Tuesday 10th June on the KS2 field. Gates will be open from 12:50. Please enter through the main entrance on Middlebrook Lane. We are hoping to start at 1pm and finish before the end of the school day. There will also be refreshments on sale.
Children can come to school in their PE kits on Tuesday. Please make sure that all children wear trainers.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday afternoon!
Y5 Mining Expert visit was AMAZING!
Our children were extremely lucky to have a morning visit from Eddie and Tony, who are mining experts. We were wowed with mining tales, had the chance to view real life artefacts and hear all about their uses and asked lots of useful questions to support our learning. Eddie and Tony were such informative hosts and we are so thankful for their time and information!

Y5 Reminder
We cannot wait to welcome back Year 5 children for our final half term! We have a really busy few weeks with some changes to our usual routines so please ensure you keep an eye on our Blog and Diary Dates for information. This week, XP Outdoors will be Wednesday and PE on Thursday. Children will need their change of clothes on these days. See you tomorrow!
