What a great hangout we had this morning with Jamie Portman about the launch of Digital Leaders.

We were joined with over 1200 other children and students from across the trust to learn about this new exciting role that is being launched to certain year groups across our schools.

Learning the skills of Netball in Year 4!

In PE over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning and mastering the skills that are required to play Netball. We’ve focussed on the throwing and catching techniques whilst also developing our accuracy skills to throw our balls in to the net.

Next week, we hope to look at the rules of a match and then applying these skills within a match.

Digital Leaders

Notice for all students in Year 2 to Year 5!

Students in Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 have an amazing opportunity to become a Digital Leader within their class.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their own individual skills when it comes to the latest technology. Children who are successful will get the opportunity to visit XP East and potentially the Apple Store to have further training on how to use technology including iPads, MacBooks and some of the other great products that are used throughout school. Our Digital Leaders will then become the experts who can then pass on their knowledge to others.

Applications will need to be sent to Mr Taylor by Thursday 3rd February explaining why you would make a fantastic Digital Leader. This can be done in a format of your choice including a letter, slides or even a video showcasing your IT skills.

A journey through the story

Yesterday, Year 4 went on a magical arctic adventure through our book ‘The Last Bear’. We used the hall and made it dark, twinkly and COLD to create the experience of life in the arctic.

The Children read extracts and investigated images from the story and made inferences about what has happened so far. After visiting each station, they then left their responses on the paper to show their understanding of the text. We were all amazed with the amazing learning behaviours in the hall and the great reading that was taking place.

Look at the AWESOME responses that were made from the story – absolutely great learning and understanding of the text and our Expedition so far! We are super impressed.

TT Rockstar Club

I’ve been well and truly blown away the last couple of weeks at TT Rockstars by how hard the children are trying.


The focus and dedication they have got to beat their scores, or improve their times is fantastic!


We have certainly got some rock legends in the making here and I have no doubt that they will be whizzing through the multiplication test at the end of Year 4.

P.s you’ve all got 30 HoWL points for working hard and getting smart even after the school day has finished!

Year 3/4 Crew Assembly

A huge well done to our HoWL point winners for this week in Year 3 and 4. You are all setting the example for the rest of our crews for working hard, getting smart and being kind! Keep it up!

It was great for our crew leaders to share some lovely shout outs about individuals in our crews today. Those people who have really gone that extra mile this week and got recognised and praised for their super attitudes towards their learning, it’s wonderful to hear!

Also, well done to Crew Myers on being the overall HoWL score winner this week. I wonder who it will be next week spinning the wheel for a crew reward?

Finally, a big well done to Crew Myers and Crew Faulding on being the attendance winners this week too! Let’s keep this going guys as we want to keep building our attendance money up!

Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

Crew Oldridge and Crew Myers following up their visit to ‘Project Polar’ with a polar bear workshop. They’ve learn everything from what features a bear has to survive in the Arctic Circle to how climate change is effecting their habitat. All in all, a fantastic day and it has been terrific to see how enthusiastic the children were about every part of it.

Reading Immersion in Year 4!

This week we took our learning outside!

In English, we wanted to fully immerse ourselves in to our new text ‘The Last Bear’ where the story is based in Svalbard, Norway. This was the perfect way to put ourselves in to the mindset of our main character April who had just arrived in the baltic, arctic conditions on her new adventure.

After reading the first two chapters outside, we retreated back in to our toasty warm classrooms for a yummy hot chocolate and to write some fantastic predictions about what we believe will happen in our text.

We’d like to make a shout out to all of the children for their excellent listening skills and for sitting so sensibly- you were all super stars! It was a really lovely experience!
