This morning during academic crew the children looked through their maths book and found a piece of work that they were proud of. They then wrote down what they were most proud of and gave themselves a praise for their work. It was lovely to see the children reflect on their work and be proud of their achievements. Well done Crew Jeeves some amazing work.

Academic Crew – SLC
In academic crew this week we looked at script building in preparation for the student led conference. The children looked at sentence stems to talk about their work and then found a piece of English work they were proud of and explained this to their partners.
They were all pretty nervous before doing this but in the debrief all said how much more confident they felt after talking this through and using this script.

Friday 18th March 2020 is Red Nose Day in the UK. At Green Top we will be raising money for the event by selling red nose’s. Year 3/4 Basketball Tournament!
On Friday, I had the pleasure of taking a group of children from Year 3 and 4 to Trinity to take part in an afternoon of Basketball. I was SO impressed with how well everyone worked together and with the children from the other school. The children listened to the coach really respectfully and gained some fantastic skills! Well done everyone!

Another well done but this time to Crew Tortora on winning the overall HoWL points for this week so they got to spin the prize wheel. It’s fab to see that you are all getting smart, working hard and being kind. All of these contribute to lots of HoWL points being awarded! Enjoy your extra play time, you super stars!
In Accelerated Reader, we celebrated Crew Faulding for their above average reading percentage and also Crew Myers for their 0.3 percent increase since before half term. Year 4 are smashing it! Keep it up!

World Book Day – Crew Tortora
Wow what a day, the outfits within our class were out of this world! I was so proud of all the effort and enthusiasm shown for world book day, if only we could dress up every day.
Thank you class 9 for being amazing!!!
Green Top’s Digital Leaders
Children from Year 2-5 had a fun-filled time at XP East today as we met up with children who are also digital leaders from across the trust. We began the day with a brilliant tour of XP and XP East before working hard to understand the role of a digital leader, why digital leaders are important and the qualities a digital leader should have. I was blown away by the children’s efforts and collaboration but also the courage they demonstrated to share their ideas in front of a big audience! A great day was had by all and the children will now share their learning with the leadership team at Green Top. Thank you to Mr. Portman and XP for having us for the day…we had a great time!
Debate in english
In today’s english lesson we had a hook into our new cycles focus – persuasive writing. For this the children were put into groups and were asked to gather information to either be for plastic straws against paper straws and vice- versa.
They worked well collecting facts and researching articles around this argument on their iPads.
They then stood up and we had a class debate discussing all the facts they have found. Everyone was so confident when speaking and there was some amazing discussions around the topic.
We felt that the arguments for paper straws against plastic straws were more convincing and we all believe that were we can we should use these instead to play a part in saving our beautiful planet.
