Little Class 6 Riding Hoods

Our new class text for the last part of our expedition in Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl and the children had lots of fun reading his version of Little Red Riding Hood, watching the video and then using role play and mime to act it out. Although this way of expressing their learning is fairly new to them, they have taken to it like pros! Scan the QR code below and follow the link to see their video clips….and the Oscar goes to…. X

Maths superstars

Continuing with our maths week theme we have 3 new maths wizards in class 6.

Maddison, Bobby and Hunter blew us away today with their excellent knowledge of 2D and 3D shape in our geometry blast off this morning.

Super proud of you guys

Happy Diwali!

We have all been learning about Diwali this week in community crew and we were lucky enough in class 6 to have a student who is taking part in the 5 day Festival of Light celebrations. Haran told us all about how he will celebrate over the coming days and even brought in these delicious treats for our class so we could be part of the festivities.

Thank you so much to Haran and his family!

Phase certificate winners from class 6

A huge well done to all the winners of HoWL certificate winners in our phase assembly this morning. Those from class 6 winning awards were Hunter, Tallon and Kalab for Work Hard, Be Kind and Get Smart respectively and our overall points winner was Shae. Ellis-Jude won the Be Kind certificate in Crew O’Neill and Adam was our Reading champion this week.

Great job guys…really proud of you all!

Fantastic family learning

What a wonderful afternoon class 6 have had today on their family learning event. Continuing with our current expedition, ‘What can I do to be a superhero in my community?’, we embarked on a clean up campaign along the banks of the canal. It was a beautiful day for a walk and, although we didn’t find much litter to pick up, we were pleased that our local community are following our keep Thorne clean values, and that we are making those small changes that have huge effect. It was also wonderful to hear the comments of some of the local residents that we passed along the way as to how lovely it was to see our polite and happy children out and about in the community again. Miss Wilkins, Mr Wright and I couldn’t be more proud of the way you behaved. I would also like to say a huge thank-you to all of the children’s family members who took time out of their day to join us on our litter-pick. We couldn’t have done it without you!
