Magical Music Session!

Tommorow we will be having an exciting visit from musician Geoff Hewitt. He will be talking to the children about how music is made, playing his guitar and then demonstrating how we can make our own guitars, drums or shakers.

If you have any old containers, packaging, boxes, oats, rice, lentils or anything you would like to use in the session please bring this to school with you in the morning!

I look forward to seeing you all as we hook back into our second half term of ‘being a maker’!

‘In world of possibilities what would you make?’

See you in the morning!

Let’s be scientists

On Friday Crew Jackson spent the morning learning about plant reproduction. They explored the different methods of seed dispersal, found out about self and cross pollination and discovered that some plants do not reproduce from seeds. I think their favourite part of the morning was dissecting a lily and identifying the female and male parts of the flower.

Super work guys as always 🙂

Mental Health Week in Crew Oldridge

This week we have read The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. We have really enjoyed the text and talked at length about not feeling the pressure to be anything but yourself.

Class 13 also finished their writing touchdowns. They were really interested to compare their writing with the first piece they produced in year 4 and were pleasantly surprised.

Positive Affirmations

To finish off our focus on Children’s Mental Health Week, we listened to a story (read by the fabulous Learning Council) called The Heavy Bag. The story, which focuses on a little girl who has lost her granddad, has a lovely message about sharing our feelings with others to lighten the load.

Why not listen to the story yourself?

After we had discussed the story, we created our own positive affirmations that we can read whenever our bags are feeling a little bit heavy. I was so proud of the lovely phrases that the children came up with and they are sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces!

We also have our own set of positive affirmation cards which we will change each day. Today’s affirmation chosen by the class is …

Nursery weekly roundup

This week we have spoke to the children about who we could talk to if we felt sad or needed help and who we love and why whilst decorating valentines biscuits.

Thank you for your continued support this half term, enjoy your week off

Well done this week’s winners 🏆 x x

Doing the continental

I was once more blown away by how beautifully the children in class 6 collaborated on their task of locating and naming the seven continents this morning. They were even able to explain their learning to our visitors and Mrs Overson.

So proud of you all x
