We are geographers again!

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ This song will get stuck in your head!!!!

I love this song…keep practicing the names of the oceans and continents class 8.

They have really enjoyed using the maps this week, watching the videos and learning the songs to help them remember the key information!

We have also been practicing recalling the information that we have learnt to help to embed the knowledge that they have learnt previously. Some great discussions today with talk partners answering some recall questions

Phase assembly and postcard winners.

Lots to celebrate in this morning’s assembly in class 6.

Ezra, Savannah and Reeva won certificates for work hard, be kind and get smart respectively and Deacon was overall HoWL point winner. Nathaniel held on to his reading champion cup for another week and Adam joined the picture too as he missed out on last week’s celebration.

Kalab won our learning legend postcard for a day with many good choices and Deacon shared his swimming certificate with us.

Keep up the good work crew x

Children’s Mental Health Week

In community crew this week we listened to a story all about teamwork. We discussed how the characters worked well as a team and what happened when they didn’t. We then thought about the teams we are in at school and how we have lots of opportunities to work collaboratively and how we can try to be good teammates. We then created a piece of artwork linked to this years theme of growing together.

Awesome Authors!

Shout out to Crew Ambler for their focus and concentration on producing their best writing when completing their final touchdown writing over the past 2 days. I can’t wait to read your final stories.

We are authors!

A massive shout out to all of Crew Jackson for their focus and concentration on producing their best writing when completing their final touchdown writing. I can’t wait to read your final stories.

Thank you Freya!

Freya brought in her National Geographic magazine to share with the class as at linked to our recent learning on deforestation. She read the article about the lynx beautifully to her peers and we learned how deforestation meant that the lynx couldn’t camouflage to catch their prey!

Classifying Plants

Y6 became biologists today and looked at the different ways that plants can be classified. We built background knowledge throughout the lesson by gathering information in different ways. We then used this information to organise the plants seeing whether our ideas changed each time!

Where would we go if our heart needed a plaster?

We had a lovely discussion today as part of children’s mental health week about where or rather who, we could go to if we were feeling sad, lonely, upset or scared. It was wonderful to hear that the children had a wide ranging support network of adults that they could share their problems with. The children learned a new saying ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ and we talked about some of the things that make us sad. Well done guys.

Bobby won our learning legend postcard today for his fabulous listening which led to awesome learning.

Keep on getting smart Bobby, it really does make a difference.

Today we were geographers!!!

Today we explored globes and atlases to find out what they were used for. We found different features and used vocabulary from the word wall to help us to understand what geography is.

The children generated some great questions that they wanted to learn more about…

I think this is going to be a great case study.

Great day class 8 x

Final Touchdown Writing

This morning in Crew Ambler, we have been very busy critiquing our writing and editing and improving. The children worked collaboratively to ensure that the features from our rubric were in their adventure story. Well done Crew Ambler.
