Celebrations in class 6.

Well done to Adam who won our learning legend postcard today for sharing his amazing knowledge of our world’s oceans and to Savannah, who brought in her medal from dance competitions she took part in over the holidays.

Great job both of you.

Music Makers

Wow what a fabulous first day back at school to hook us back into our learning. Today we had a fantastic music workshop with local musician Geoff Hewitt. Geoff told the children all about how sounds are made. The children then made their own junk model instruments and played them in our very own band. We had lots of fun singing songs and playing our instruments. Thank you Geoff for inspiring our young musicians!

If you would like to check out some of Geoff’s own work then head over to his instagram page @geoffsteabreak where you can get a copy of his debut album for free!

Postcard today goes to…

Delia!

Well done Delia for working so hard with your phonics and reading today. Your instrument design this morning was just super! Keep up the great work and your enthusiasm is just infectious! Well done Delia!!

‘Diving’ into our geographical learning

We have been learning all about the 5 oceans which cover 70% of our earth today. We can now name the oceans, order them according to size and tell you lots of facts about each one. Why not ask your child to tell you which ocean is the largest or smallest? Or visit our expedition website to listen to a song about the oceans or continents?

Click here for a link to the website.

We are sculptors

The children in class 6 had a fantastic afternoon creating 3D tile sculptures of sea creatures to make a corridor display. They have left them to dry before painting them next week. I cannot wait to see the finished pieces. Well done everyone x

Year 2 weather forecasts

We have used the crazy storms that we have been experiencing recently, to support our learning today on weather and seasons in different climate zones. We have today compared the weather in England to the weather in other countries and continents and they created and presented weather forecasts to the class. What a great way to start our half term off…well done class 8

We became researchers!

Class 5 took on a research project this morning all about the 5 oceans of the world! We worked together to read information and learn some facts. Did you know that the Pacific Ocean is the largest, or that the oceans cover 70% of the earth? The smallest ocean is the Arctic. All these facts were recalled when the children presented their learning to each other. Great job class 5!

Visit to Austerfield this week…

We hope you’ve had a lovely half term break and feel ready to start the new term tomorrow!

Our visit to Austerfield Study Centre will take place on Wednesday. Please can all adults accompanying their child on the visit arrive at Nursery by 9am so we can register everyone and be on the coaches ready to leave by 9.30am. All adults and children will need to bring a packed lunch with them and tea/coffee making facilitates will be available at lunchtime with a voluntary donation available. The coach will leave Austerfield by 2.30pm to make sure we are back in time for the end of the school day.

Please could we ask that all adults and children dress appropriately for the outdoor weather… the forecast is looking better for Wednesday and we’re hoping it stays that way!

If you have any questions or queries please speak to a member of staff tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the morning!
