Y6 Family Learning

We had a lovely afternoon welcoming parents back in to school for family learning after such a long time!

We created posters in the style of Keith Haring to promote looking after out planet which links nicely to our expedition ‘How can we help the world we live in?’

There were some really positive finished posters!

We then had a very competitive game of Kahoot all about rainforests – I was really impressed with some of the answers! A huge well done to Jaiden and his dad for winning! Closely followed by Lexi, Lilly and her mum! Well done guys!

Thank you to all of the adults that came to join in with our learning! We hope you had fun!

Fire Safety Talk -Year 4

We discussed good and bad fires, smoke alarms, stop drop and roll, phoning 999 and what to do and what an escape plan is and what it would look like.

All staff have been really impressed by how respectful the children were this afternoon and their involvement and participation. It was great to see what you already knew about this topic and sharing your knowledge with your crew.

Well done everyone.

Assessment Prep!

Yesterday, we worked in pairs to support each other through a practice arithmetic paper. We discussed the key calculations that we should be doing on certain questions in order to find the correct answer. This was such a helpful process for everyone, especially when we are able to pull on each persons strengths and the areas that they feel the most confident in.

We debriefed in a circle by discussing that even though our assessment will have different numbers, the calculations will still be the same. This definitely boosted our confidence ready for our arithmetic assessment!

I’m really proud to see you working as a crew today! Keep it up!

EYFS Easter Experience

Next week on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th March we are going to be visited by a team from Doncaster Schools Work Trust. The children in Nursery and Reception will take part in a workshop which will be a hands on interactive experience telling them the story of Jesus’ life over Easter and the events of Holy Week.

The charity are kindly donating their services for free and invite parents and carers to make a voluntary contribution towards covering the cost of their resources and the gift each child will take home. If you would like to do so please could you bring £2 to school on Monday or Tuesday next week.

If you would like to find out more information about the charity it is available on their website http://dswt.co.uk/

Look out for our blog posts next week sharing with you the fun we get up to!

Nursery Family Learning on Wednesday!

This Wednesday at 2pm will be our family learning event. Parents are invited to join their child in the school hall where Pastor Kevin from Thorne Pentecostal Church will be leading a short assembly on the story of Creation and how God made the world, linking to our current expedition of ‘In a world of possibilities will you make?‘ We will then be completing some short craft activities before finishing by 2.45pm.

Please arrive at the Nursery entrance 10-15 minutes before the event start time. If you are unable to attend the children will still enjoy taking part with a member of the nursery staff team. If your child does not usually attend on a Wednesday afternoon you are very welcome to come along and join us!
