Year 4 had great fun in GBlock today turning dolly pegs into Roman soldiers! They were so careful and patient and created some fantastic, fearful looking soldiers!

We had lots of fun this afternoon taking part in some Roman sports! We marched like the Romans, practised our throwing, completed the Roman hurdles and even joined in some chariot racing!
In expedition today class 5 have been learning about Florence Nightingale “ the lady with the lamp”. They all worked collaboratively to make their own lamps. Great mornings work from everyone. 😊
Wow! We had so much fun today experiencing the rainforest using VR headsets! The children loved learning about the different species of animals that lived in the different layers and got up close to a variety of fabulous animals!
What an amazing experience with our VR Workshop this morning. We had a trip through the rainforest and met lots of different animals, face to face, including a giant tarantula! As well as exploring the Amazon we learnt some great facts! Did you know the Amazon is 55 million years old or that it is home to 2.5 million different species of insects?
In maths club today we have been looking at number bonds, partitioning numbers, missing numbers and adding numbers together. Well done everyone who came, you all smashed it! 😊
To say that this was Class 10s first attempt at reading block, they smashed it out of the park. We had some super discussions about our class text, whilst also trying to make predictions about the book based on illustrations, the title and also the blurb. We also discussed what fiction and non-fiction was.
We also learned about how the Romans used mosaics as part of their artwork, so we thought… why don’t we do the same? Although there were many bits and our hands were full of glue, we still enjoyed creating our very own mosaics!
Finally, we ended the day with our own Roman sports day. We had chariot racing, Roman hurdles, marching practise and we even had a shot put event. Despite the heat (it really did feel like and Italian summer) we loved it!
This morning as part of our geography hook lesson we learnt about the different layers of the rainforest and how they are different from each other. This afternoon we then took part in a VR workshop and experienced what life is like in the Amazon rainforest. Well done Crew Ambler it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves!
Today we have finished our silhouette pictures! We think they look great and show some of the buildings you might seen during The Great Fire of London. Well done class 7, you have produced some fantastic art work to immerse our classroom.
Miss Hilton
Well done to Layla who has immersed herself within our expedition by creating a Roman-style building out of Lego! It looks fantastic!
