Roman soldiers! 🗡️🏛️

Today, Class 10 have been learning about the life of a Roman soldier. We even learned the Latin names of items like a sword, helmet and shield amongst others. We learned that there was some positives of being a Roman soldier such as you are well fed and get equipment provided. However, there were negatives as well with the main one being that you could be killed!

Thursday 5th October

3pm – 4pm

Don’t forget that on Thursday 5th October 3pm – 4pm our Learning Council will be hosting a reading drop in session in the hall. There will different activities for you to join in with. Some of our activties include enjoying reading a book (or an Ebook) with your child, learning more about Accelerated Reader, or even playing some phonics games!

Year 3/4 – Star Readers ⭐️📚

Because of reading week, Crew leaders have chosen somebody who has been impressing them throughout the year so far. All of our winners were able to pick a brand new book for themselves as a reward for the hard work they have shown!

Class 12 – Visit to Thorne Library! 📚

On Monday, as part of reading week, the children were given the chance to visit Thorne library. We had a huge selection of books that the children were able to take a look through. It was good opportunity for the children to find something they were interested in and hopefully engage them more with their reading.

Class 12: Life as a Roman Soldier!

In expedition, we have been looking at what life would be like as a Roman soldier. We looked at the different equipment that a soldier would carry and wear and tried to label the soldier using the Latin names for the items. We then looked at different soldiers within the Roman army and how a Roman legion was structured.
