Daddy Bear or Baby Bear?

In Nursery this week we have been getting better at using mathematical language to describe the size of different objects. We started this topic by reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears and comparing big Daddy Bear, middle-sized Mummy Bear and tiny Baby Bear. Today the children were given the challenge of sorting out which items belonged to Daddy Bear and Baby Bear. They loved exploring the feely bag and deciding which shoes, socks, tshirt, shorts, cup and spoon belonged to who. I was so impressed with their use of words such as ‘bigger, smaller, huge, little and tiny’. Well done Nursery Crew!

We are Artists

Class 6 have been showing their artistic flair today by drawing Matilda from our new core text in the style of it’s illustrator, Quentin Blake. I’m sure you will agree, Reeva, Deacon, Harrison and Imogen thoroughly deserved our Learning Legend postcards today.

Great job guys!

Brilliant day in Class 6

What a great day we have had in Class 6 today…Kalab showed us his fishing medal, Ellis his Pokemon drawing and Deacon an acorn that he found which he intends to plant to see if he can grow an oak tree!

We also tried our hand at acting by reading, rehearsing and performing speeches we had written linked to our class text Let the Children March which tells the story of the Birmingham children’s marches in 1963 organised by Martin Luther King in support of civil rights. See our videos here.

Our Learning Legends today were Elina, for showing her Be Kind
HoWL by helping her friends and Savannah for her fabulous performance in our speeches.

Awesome job as always everyone!

The clean water challenge

Today Crew Ambler arranged themselves into 5 teams to take on the ‘Clean water challenge.’
Each group was given a bottle of muddy/dirty water and their challenge was to use various equipment and methods to separate the mud form the water. The winner would be the team with the cleanest water after 45 minutes!
They were given equipment including sieves and filter paper to work together and decide which equipment and which ways were best to separate the mud from the water.

After 45 minutes these were the results and the winners were Georgie, Danny and Ashton!

Well done everyone!!

Balancing and shape work in PE

Crew Shaw thoroughly enjoyed their first PE lesson today.
They made wide shapes on their feet…

and wide shapes on the floor…

They then made themselves into the smallest shape possible before making different shapes with a partner.

Their next task was to balance on different parts of their bodies, before finishing the lesson with a class circle, where everyone held hands and balanced on one leg.

Well done Crew Shaw, you were amazing today! Xx

We are crew!

Crew Overson created trains on which they wrote their own individual pledges that they will follow to ensure their crew is the best it can be!

The children then wrote words and phrases about what their crew means to them onto train tracks.

Their final task was to build a bridge using various resources that needed to be strong enough to hold a toy train.

Well done Mrs Overson’s superstars!!
