Class 7 were lucky to have some Year 5s read us a very funny story during our reading week! 🙂
This week, as part of reading week, Year 2 visited the library and braved the weather to have a good read. We loved being able to draw on book trees, read with our friends and listen to a good story. Some of us even helped library staff by keeping shelves tidy and scanning books. We loved our trip to the library and can’t wait to go again!
Today was eBook day, so Class 7 chose two books to read online. We loved hearing about Harold the Cat and Muffin the Kittens adventures!
Yesterday was national Writing day. This mean the children had freedom to write about a chosen image and decide what genre to write about. We had some fantasy tales, some newspaper articles and some excellent narratives. The children tried to remember features that we have used this year as well. There were some really lovely and interesting pieces of writing and what was great to see was the fun had by all when writing their pieces of work. It was a relaxed atmosphere and then we loved hearing what others wrote.
Crew Walton have worked so hard today, planning, writing, editing and producing final drafts of their own stories for National Writing Day. Everyone worked so hard, choosing from a range of picture stimuli from which to base their pieces. What a successful day!
What a great day Class 10 had decorating our reading corner and immersing ourselves into the World Book Day spirit. Well done Class 10 for helping make our reading corner look much improved!
What a great turn out for National Read Aloud Day. Thank you to everyone who came – the atmosphere was great!
Yesterday, Class 10 were practising their measuring skills and began to explore using rulers with different items around the class. This was to get used to the vocabulary and understand measurements fully.
We then finished our day off by finding the key features of a setting description ready to take some ideas for independent pieces of writing.
This week, not only have Class 10 written up their independent writing about who the Romans were, they have also taken each others best sentences so that we can use them on the website.
The collaboration was fantastic to see!
Class 10 have been preparing for their next independent piece of writing by looking at features of a non-chronological report. They were trying identify the variety of conjunctions, fronted adverbials and facts that they could see! Class 10 collaborated superbly well to find these features and were able to feed them back.
