The Nursery children had great fun baking bear shaped shortbread biscuits to re-hook into our expedition learning ’How do we care for bears?’ We definitely have some budding bakers! They tasted delicious!

Nursery have had a lovely time exploring pumpkins. The children talked about the texture, colour and smell. The children then developed their fine motor skills by using pegs to extract the seeds. Well done Nursery!
We have had a wonderful first day back in Reception. We were shocked and happy that all the leaves came off our big tree in our outdoor area. We had so much fun playing in the leaves and talking about why they had fallen off.
A little bit of pumpkin fun to round off a fabulous day!
Well done Reception Crew
We had such an amazing day today at Austerfield. We focused on 2 stories-Goldilocks and the three bears and We’re going on a Bear Hunt. We did lots of super fun activities like making our own story maps from the natural materials that we found and we even made our own porridge. The children were all engaged and behaved beautifully. A special shout out to all of our adult helpers who came along, thank you for mucking in and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Well done Reception Crew
Yesterday, the children and Nursery had a wonderful time creating their own woodland trays for their bears to live in as part of our expedition learning ’How do we care for bears?’ The children explored natural objects in our environment to make their trays and drew their own bears to add in. The children even added porridge oats to feed them. Well done Nursery! We are so proud of you for your creativeness, innovation and imagination!
The children have been super busy already this morning ’de-gunging’ and taking pride in our environment by litter picking, exploring bear themed play and enjoying physical play on the bikes, scooters and climbing frame.
Today in Nursery the children enjoyed messy play in the garden. We added glitter and water to the foam to make it even more fun!! The children loved making shapes, patterns and designs. The children are excited to see what other messy play activities they can use in Nursery.
Nursery would love to create a music wall outside for the children. If anyone has any old pots, pans or kitchen utensils that you could kindly donate we would really appreciate this.
Thank you the Nursery Team x
The adults in Nursery were so proud of the children yesterday and how hard they worked touch counting objects. The children quickly learnt that counting objects is a much easier task when the objects are in a line rather than a heap. They then went on to touch count each object to find the correct amount.
Well done Nursery – you are all shining stars!
I wonder… What else can you count at home?
Hello,
If anyone is out and about on an autumn walk and see any pinecones, conkers or acorns please collect and bring to Nursery as we would love to use these in our provision and play.
