In our RE session this afternoon we focused our recent learning on the 6 main religions in the UK on Christianity. We found out about their Holy book and place of worship and discussed the ceremonies carried out in Church. We finished our lovely peaceful afternoon by colouring bookmarks showing some Christian symbols.
Well done everyone x
This afternoon, we celebrated the grand opening of our new library with a beautiful event attended by lots of our community. With representations from our school community, local council, our XP Trust, and even an author – we thank everyone for attending and sharing the special moment with us.
A special thank you to our Friends of Green Top who have supported us so much with raising money to make our dream happen – without you it would have been impossible!
Thank you also to our wonderful reading ambassadors for hosting the event – we think they did a fantastic job for their first event and they are excited for many more to come!
This video shows the incredible journey we have been on to create our beautiful so please take a few minutes to watch to celebrate how far we have come!
Finally, thank you to Phil Sheppard for taking the time to attend our launch and for your generous donation of books towards our library! We are also pleased to be taking part in the ‘Take10toRead’ on Friday 10th October as part of World Mental Health Day!
We are collecting donations for our local community. The items will be passed onto Susan Durant and her team to create food parcels and hampers.
Please send items into school between now and Friday 17th October.
Don’t forget our ‘crack the code’ competition is running all week as part of reading week! Guesses to crack the code are 50p each!
Will you be a lucky winner?
Good luck!
What a lovely start to our Monday morning, a nice walk to spend some time in our local library. The children enjoyed reading a selection of books, taking part in some craft activities and finding out all about the job roles of the librarians. A fab start to reading week!
Watch the story below called ‘Lucy’s Blue Day’. Reflect on the story by sharing your ideas with your crew about different things you can do if you are experiencing big feelings such as feeling scared, anxious, frightened or angry.
Which Zone of regulation might you be in if you are feeling this way?
What could you do to make you feel better?
This week in Crew, we are focussing on the Wicked Musical and will be enjoying lots of different songs and music from both the musical and film adaptation.
What a perfect chance to listen to and learn one of this years Young Voices songs!
Enjoy!
On Tuesday 14th October, Reception will be holding a Christmas Photo Shoot Day. The photos taken will be professionally printed and made available for purchase at our upcoming Christmas event – a perfect keepsake or gift for family and friends!
Please send your child to school on this day dressed in the outfit you would like them to wear for their photo. This can be a festive outfit, smart clothes, or anything special you’d like them to be photographed in.
We’re looking forward to capturing some lovely, festive memories!
Friday 10th October is World Mental Health Day; we are joining Young Minds and inviting you to wear something yellow!
Please don’t go out and buy anything special (it isn’t a non-uniform day). You can wear an item of yellow clothing or wear a yellow bow, socks or even make your own badge to wear!
If you would like to donate to this charity, here is their website: https://www.youngminds.org.uk/
At Green Top, we place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and heard. Our culture of crew underpins this commitment, giving all children a voice and fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness across our school. Through our crew curriculum and focus on key character traits, we help our children develop kindness, compassion, and the confidence to share their thoughts and feelings openly. We also recognise the powerful role that creativity and movement play in wellbeing — our vibrant culture of the arts and active learning nurtures both emotional and physical health. Together, these elements create a happy, supportive environment where both children and staff can thrive.
