Well done to our Star Readers this week. Keep up the great reading!
We had such an amazing day at Eureka!
We have had SUCH an amazing day at the children’s museum in Halifax today. We found out lots of new things about our bodies as well as consolidating what we have already learned. The children were super well-behaved and had an awesome time. Check out the photos below for just some of our activities.
Class 10 have loved learning all about the human digestive system today with our quite disgusting experiment. We pretended the food bag was our stomach and we mushed up a banana, a biscuit and some orange juice. We all had a little squeeze and made sure the ’enzymes’ were breaking our food down. Next we passed the food through some tights to represent the small intestine and and then we ’pooped’ out the rest of the waste that our body didn’t need.
Im so glad everyone enjoyed our experiment the writing you did after it was so detailed and full of scientific vocabulary. Fantastic learning attitude everyone, thank you for working hard and getting smart.
Miss Hilton and Miss Bull
Due to the Y1 and Y2 trips taking place this week, Year 1 XP Outdoors and PE will take place on Thursday.
Class 11 were both intrigued and horrified by the digestion experiment. This was where was see what happens after food enters the mouth (the first stage of digestion) and then goes down the oesophagus to the stomach. This Experiment shows how gastric acids in the stomach turn chewed food into the mushy liquid. It then gets taken by the small intestine to the make nutrients for the body. Any remaining waste exits the large intestine and the body…
