What an interesting visit we had to St. Nicholas Church this afternoon! The children were kept very busy completing a worksheet with their adult, finding and naming some religious objects and trying to guess what they were used for. We can’t wait to visit Thorne Methodist Church tomorrow to compare our findings.

Today in our paired reading we read a piece of poetry linked to our expedition, where people live.
The children took it in turns to read a line each and then read it together, at the same time. We are learning and improving each time we do this how to try and stay at the same pace as someone else- it’s very tricky!
We ended this by quizzing each other on the rhyming words used in each verse to see who had remembered what they had read!
I was very impressed! Keep up the great reading!

Well done Class 7 on cracking the code today and solving the title of our new class text, Home Sweet Home.
After this, we looked at the picture of the front cover and wrote some amazing predictions on what we think will happen in this book. Your predictions were so creative and original, far better than mine!!! Can’t wait to see if you were close tomorrow when we uncover more!

Some super learning in English! Feature finding, definition hunting and model writing from all. Well done guys yet again 😀.
Class 11 were at Austerfield Study Centre on Thursday and built some fantastic dens out of the surrounding woodland to develop their teamwork. They also learnt how to navigate a map using a compass. Very impressive!
Class 8 have had a great session in English this morning finding out the title of our new class text by cracking the code! Everyone worked hard in pairs to find the letter to match the symbol. Well done class 8.
