Brilliant costumes for World Book Day

I am blown away by the fantastic costumes in Class 15 today! Thank you to parents and carers who have supported with all of the reading initiatives this week.

Class 7 visit the Methodist Church ⛪️

What a great morning we had at Thorne Methodist Church yesterday. All children were a credit to Green Too as they behaved outstandingly with great listening, showing beautiful manners!

A huge thank you to Mrs Raper for opening up the church for us and giving the children some history key facts about the Methodist Church. The children absolutely loved hearing all about it- I think the amount of hands up with questions says it all!

Again, thank you to the grown ups who were able to support us today. We couldn’t do it without you all!

I wonder…

1. Can you remember what year the Methodist church was built?

2. Why do people have little bits of bread and wine?

Have a go at answering these, show them to Mrs Faulding or Mrs Burton and receive 30 housepoints and a sticker! 🌟

Learning about narrative retelling

So the children are learning about narrative retelling. To help they looked at a wordless story which is told through a series of pictures. They then played roll and retell. Every roll gave them a number, which indicates a question they had to answer about a page from the story. They were fabulous, so involved and just getting the job done! So much understanding and ideas developed about the story just from 5 pictures!

Here they are showing off😀

Thorne Methodist church

Class 8 had a fantastic experience today walking to the Methodist church and seeing what happens inside. All the children listened so well and asked some interesting questions. A huge thank you to Mrs Raper for talking us through all the different things the church is used for and showing us what happens inside.

A big thank you to all our adult helpers who walked with us we really appreciate you supporting our learning and keeping us safe.

Challenge- if you can tell me or Miss O’Neill when the Methodist church was built you can have 20 house points!

5 years ago today

This picture was taken 5 years ago today when we achieved a good ofsted grading. The school is a different place to what it was then… What a journey! Thanks to all those who have joined us and continued with us on our journey. Alan would be so proud of you all!

Class 7 Church Visit

Class 7 had a great time visiting Saint Nicholas Church yesterday afternoon.

They were able to spot the font, stain glass windows, the alter and also the lectern.

Thank you very much to the grown ups who joined us and helped answer lots of questions about the church.

We can’t wait to visit the Methodist Church today so that we can compare the two!

Year 1’s visit to St. Nicholas Church

What an interesting visit we had to St. Nicholas Church this afternoon! The children were kept very busy completing a worksheet with their adult, finding and naming some religious objects and trying to guess what they were used for. We can’t wait to visit Thorne Methodist Church tomorrow to compare our findings.

Thank you so much to all the adults who joined us. We really appreciate your continued support.
