Reception Zumba

We had such fun doing our Zumba session this week with Mrs Raynor. In Expedition we have been learning about how our bodies grow. We now know that exercise is a really important part of that. So, instead of just talking about it, we had a go ourselves.

Well done everyone and a big thank you to Mrs Raynor for teaching us some awesome dances.

Maths Week 2025- Challenge 1

Maths Week 2025 is here, and we’re kicking things off with an exciting home learning challenge! This is your chance to get creative, have fun with numbers, and showcase your mathematical thinking.

For our first home learning challenge, we’d like you to choose a number and create a poster displaying different ways to represent it. You can show your number using:

  • Numerals (e.g. 7)
  • Words (e.g. seven)
  • Pictures (e.g. seven stars)
  • Number sentences (e.g. 3 + 4 = 7)
  • Arrays
  • Tally marks
  • Money
  • Anything else creative!

How to Take Part

  1. Choose a number that inspires you.
  2. Design and decorate your poster using any materials you like – be as colourful and imaginative as possible!
  3. Make sure your poster clearly shows your chosen number in a variety of ways.
  4. Submit your entry to Mr Mumby by Friday to take part in the challenge.

We can’t wait to see your fantastic ‘Ways to Show a Number’ posters! Get your thinking caps on, grab your pencils, and start creating.

Happy Maths Week!

Year 2 road safety talk

Year 2 loved their road safety presentation this morning by ‘The Riot Act’! They were so engaged, loved the interaction from Dan and the puppets he brought in. Most of all they went away understanding the importance of road safety and that they must remember to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN and then also LOOK again!

They sang songs, joined in and it was a great session to witness! Well done year 2, remember to always STAY SAFE!

Reception Phonics

For the last two weeks we have been consolidating our learning in phonics. We have been practising our new digraphs, our red words and beginning to construct and write sentences.

Below are the sounds that we need to keep practising. If your child has not received their reading books yet, it may be because the contract that was sent out still needs to be signed. Unfortunately, until this is signed we can’t give new books out. The link for this is below.

Class 9 | Family Learning!

A fun afternoon for everyone as we spent it building electrical circuits. Our aim was to create a fan using batteries, wires and a motor to make the propellers spin around. It was great to see so many getting involved with the activity as well as testing different circuits to see how it affects the speed of the fan when additional batteries are added or the size of the propeller decreases.

Please feel free to take a look at, or even add to, our Padlet from the session!

Class 8 beautiful art work

The children have been working very hard to create art work for their final product. They have drawn their own fruit shrinky dinks in the style of Dennis Wojtkiewizc and I can’t wait for them to be finished!

Absolutely beautiful!

Class 8 – beautiful work

We have introduced our new text this week, ‘The Tiny Seed’. These children made their own book of the story and could talk through the story and explain what happened to the Seed. Not only great literacy, but also great scientific work today! Well done

Key stage 1 community crew assembly

A huge well done to all of our fantastic award winners this week! It was amazing to see our crew champions so excited to receive their ‘character traits’ badges too!

Also, attendance in key stage 1 has been amazing the last couple of weeks so a huge shout out to Crew Shaw and Crew Cooper for 100% attendance last week!

I love sharing all of these fabulous achievements every week, it makes us feel very proud! X x
