When you’re sad or blue, there’s always someone to talk to…❤️

To continue with Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, today we discussed in crew what we can do if we are feeling sad, worried or scared. We thought about the special people in our lives that we know we can talk to about how we are feeling. The children came up with lots of good suggestions such as their mummy, daddy, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, friends and teachers. Look at the fantastic drawings the children created of their special people. Izaak created a very thoughtful picture of him talking to his sister and drew a sad and happy face to show how he felt before and after he shared his feelings. Well done Nursery Crew!

Children’s Mental Health Week

Today we kicked off celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week in Nursery. We started our morning with a crew session where we watched the story ‘Lucy’s Blue Day’ and then discussed the things that we can do when we are feeling sad, anxious, cross or scared. The nursery children then had the challenge of creating drawings to represent how they were feeling this morning. We were so impressed their work!

At lunchtime we looked after our mental health by having some ‘chill out’ time following a cosmic yoga video. The children loved creating all the different poses!

Then to make sure we all went home feeling happy we finished our end of the day crew session by having a dance to S Club 7’s Reach for the Stars! The children had some very inventive dance moves and lovely smiley faces!

What a good start to our Mental Health Awareness Week! There’ll be lots more activities over the coming days where the children will learn more about how they can take care of themselves and share their feelings with others.

A fantastic week of learning

This week we have seen lots of fantastic learning from the children in Nursery. The children have been learning about Chinese New Year and how this is celebrated in China. They all had a go at using chopsticks, moving Pom poms in to a bowl. There were some excellent fine motor skills being used and a few sneaky children using their hands too!

The children have enjoyed having older children from KS2 join us to read stories, we most certainly have a few teachers in the making.

We have ended the week with NSPCC number day. Thank you for the effort you put into T-shirts and outfits, the children all enjoyed looking at their friends outfits. The children have experimented with number through painting, drawing, stamps and games today and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Have a wonderful weekend

The Nursery Team

Once upon a time…📚

Today was the start of National Storytelling Week and we celebrated this by having some very special visitors to nursery. Jaiden, Tilly, Ava, Freya and Sophia from the Green Top Learning Council came and read stories to the children. It was so lovely to see the children listening so intently to their mini teachers!

Also a big shout out to Annie, Isabella, Isla and Izaak who brought in their favourite stories from home to share and also Holly and Logan who were today’s postcard winners! What a great start to the week… I wonder what we will read tomorrow?

Nursery’s Google Classroom

We would like to remind all parents on how to join Nursery’s Google Classroom online. We love using this forum as a way of sharing the planned teaching sessions taking place each week and provide you with access to the termly homework menus. The online classroom also give parents the opportunity to share the home learning activities they complete with their children and celebrate the wonderful things you do together.

To access the online classroom you will need to log in through the Green Top website. You can do this by going to the school’s main website and clicking on the ‘log in’ icon in the top right corner. You will then need to enter your child’s unique username as detailed below followed by the generic password which is ‘password’.

username: first [email protected]

For example: [email protected]

The children who have just joined as early starters in January will enter the number 37 after their name, for example [email protected]

Once you are logged in, click on the ‘gmail’ icon at the top of the page (it looks like an envelope). You will have an email inviting you to the online classroom and accepting this invite will give you access to the forum. If you need any more support with this please speak to a member of the nursery team who will be able to help you.

We will share the posts on google classroom every Wednesday with the children and award HoWL points for their hard work and creativity at home. We’re looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you do together!
