Throughout March, as a school we are planning to walk from John o Groats to Lands end and back! That’s 1,748 miles!

If my calculations are correct as a school we only need to do 110,505 steps a day! Easy!

So charge up your fit bits and smart watches and get your walking shoes ready!

At the end of the week complete the google form that I have attached to this blog and we will record your steps. There will be weekly prizes in school for most steps in a week and all school staff will be getting involved too.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the challenge

Class 9’s hard work

_class 9 video

The castles are taking shape now and are beginning to look authentic as the details are being added to their models.

I hope you’re as impressed as me…I can’t wait to finish and evaluate their products against their original designs!

Great work crewShaw!

Castles in the air in ks1

Fantastic individual and personal castle designs have come to life in class 9 this afternoon. Not only were they using their dt skills but they were also using what they had learnt in their history case study to talk about the features that they needed to include, such as ramparts, drawbridges, battlements, arrow slits and towers.

Their designs look fantastic and we can’t wait to finish them off tomorrow!

Well done crew

Key Stage 1 half term video

Jerusalema KS1 video link

As part of mental health and well being week last week Key Stage 1 enjoyed learning a dance that has gone viral and really wanted to do their own…who are we to let them down 🙂

So, we have an end of term video that Key Stage 1 would love to share with you.

Thank you to children at home and in school and to parents and carers for all of your hard work and supporting school in everything we do.

Have a lovely half term

Impressive further study in year 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWB4VK_uGbc&feature=emb_logo

Have a look at Emilea’s video too! We are so proud of how hard she has worked 🙂

Emilea has completed some further study of her own, following on from the learning she has been doing in case study 1 and case study 2 in expedition.

She has remembered to design a castle with original features , such as battlements, windows and arrow slits.

On top of this she has included a working drawbridge using a pulley system, which we have been researching and critiquing during our design and technology lessons.

Fantastic work Emilea

Practical maths

The children have been learning about position and direction in maths.

The best way to remember the vocabulary is to use it as often as you can so the children were playing a game in peer groups to see if they could support and challenge their partners to remember the terminology.

Super work year 2!

Our learning legends today in class 9 have been trying so hard with their writing and are really wanting to improve and because of their hard work I am beginning to see improvements in their handwriting, spelling and content so well done you two!

Keep up the great work x x

Clay dragon eyes

Year 2 were practicing their D and T skills this week by creating the most detailed dragon eyes and they look so great close up! Cant wait to put then onto our dragon display, which is already home to fantastic sketch and watercolour dragons.

I think we are going to enjoy case study 2 of this expedition and this was a super start! 👌

Well done

Talk 4 writing vocabulary lesson

In order to build the vocabulary that year 2 are exposed to, we learnt a great example of a dragon description by heart, using talk 4 writing style.

This allowed us to use ambitious vocabulary in context and then transfer some of the phrases to our own touchdown writing, which I’ve already blogged about how fantastic it is.

I just had to share their hard work and what effort went in to writing such brilliant work!

Well done
