In year 2 we have been looking at taking photos in portrait and landscape style, looking at how we change the effect of the photos and what we can do to improve them.
Great work this week everyone!
Today, Year 2 had a special expert visitor Martin Lamb. Martin spoke to Year 2 about castles and how they were made. He even brought in bricks to let us ‘destroy’ William the Conqueror’s castle. Amongst the ‘destruction’, we learnt many new facts. These included the fact that round castles were harder to siege. We even learned about new weapons such as catapults. All in all, it is fair to say Year 2 loved their expert visitor.
Well done to crew Shaw again for winning the attendance award last week. That is 2 weeks in a row…I am so impressed, please keep it up!
A huge well done to our crew champion winners too…you must have been extra special to be the first ones chosen this year!
All of year 1 and 2 parents will be receiving an email about a visit that we have arranged for the children next half term, which will enhance their current expeditionary learning. Please read and respond to the letter by going onto your child’s parent pay account. We thank you for your support with providing the children with these exciting opportunities.

The children have been learning about William the Conqueror this week and the battle of Hastings. They have created their own version of the Bayeux tapestry to retell the story. Today they moved on to the feudal system from the Middle Ages and we did a bit of drama to support their understanding of who was the most important person and the consequences for being at the bottom of the feudal system. There was some great learning happening this week. Well done class 8!

Great throwing and catching skills today using the basketballs. We focussed on chest passes and bounce passes, as well as looking at our aiming. A huge improvement already year 2, well done!
Here are the spellings that we have been learning in class. We will continue to revisit these at school but if you wanted to get the children to practise any, these would be a great start. Thanks
Mr Gerrard and Mrs Shaw
The children have been learning about King William I in history today and were reading facts about the Battle of Hastings. They then went on to create our own Bayeux tapestry, which retells the story, using tea bags and pictures. I can’t wait to see the finished product! You were brilliant historians today! Well done class 8

This year, we are working hard to raise money to develop our reading for pleasure library so firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you for all your sponsors from the colour run which will go along way to helping us!
Secondly, we still need your help! We would love for you to help us design the library based on the space we have to use which is the foyer area near the hall.
Please design your ideal library and share your plans with Miss Knowles in person or at [email protected] This is for everyone across school to get involved in! Please send your plans by 7th October.
We can’t wait to see your fantastic ideas which will help us design the perfect library!
