Understanding vocabulary by drawing a character?

Today we had lots of fun with a short piece of text which describes a character.  The text had lots of great vocabulary in there and the children had to share how well they understand it by recreating the character as a drawing. And I must say they did a great job. Here they are hard at work again.

Multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000

In school and online today year 3 have been recapping how to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000.  For online learning I set them an active task to use hand made number cards, playing cards, Uno cards etc and an online dice to generate numbers.

Here are my favourite pics from today. Well done everyone I hope the task helped you to remember how to do these types of questions.

Rubric discussion and editing!

I was very proud of class 11 today they were paired up and set off on their editing and improving session for their final draft (writing a recount). Some were already very good but this didn’t stop them getting stuck in to improve it even further. Great job!

Comfortable and collaborative.

Today class 12 were working in groups to tackle some quite tricky questions. Some of which were multi step and required lots of thinking power. But working together and talking through the question and stages helped them achieve!

Well done team.

Class 11 – miss you!!

Hiya my lovely people.

I know you can’t all be with me in school. But here is your classroom.  While I can I will try a sit in a different area for your online learning so we can all be immersed together! Hopefully we will get some time to finish together!!

See you tomorrow! X

Getting hooked

Although today was a sad day that the classroom was not full of children and excitement. We still had a good job at starting to add, immerse and learn about our new expedition.

Today, we made a brick effect wall with a very large crack! To represent an earthquake. We also looked at the Earth, what it’s made up of on the surface and throughout.  Made a collage to represent this learning too! Then, finally we looked at a famous artist called Jackson Pollock and copied his technique of splatter painting. Using blues, greens, black and white to represent a tsunami and reds, orange, yellow and brown to represent a volcanic eruption.

Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow for our online learning to begin. Missed you all today.

Take care, Mrs Pearson ☺️

Year 3/4 phase assembly!

What a wonderful catch up in year 3 and 4 today. Staff gave shout outs to crew members that had gone above and beyond this week in our HOWLs of ‘working hard, being kind and getting smart’. This week a lot of discussion was around children demonstrating hard work in their assessments. Well done to Crew Mumby this week, you narrowly won this week’s Howl point challenge and spun the wheel to win DOUBLE FUNKY FRIDAY TIME!

The challenge is now on in each crew to work hard, be kind and get smart in all that you do to win a spin of the wheel!

I wonder: Discuss with your crew leaders prizes that you’d like to see on our wheel of fortune! Leave a comment below if you wish.

Community Crew – Tree week

Here the children are getting involved and learning about tree week, what it is and why it and trees are very important.

They all surprised me so much with their knowledge of trees so we focused more about what Tree week is, when it started and why it’s important. Ask them about it at home!
