Y3/4 Presentation of learning

We are delighted to invite parents and families to our Presentation of Learning for our expedition, The Power of Life: What Makes Us Human? This special event will take place in the school hall on Wednesday, 26th March at 2:00 PM.

Our pupils have been working incredibly hard, exploring the fascinating aspects of what makes us who we are. From the science of the human body to the emotions and connections that shape us, they are excited to showcase their learning with you.

Please fill out the form below to confirm your attendance at the event.

See you on the 26th March at 2:00 PM!

Green Top Science Week

Keep a look out on the blog this week for what we will be getting up to in our science weeks. We are planning to inspire the children with scientific experiments and visitors with scientific professions! We are very excited to see what the children know already and what they learn!

XP Outdoors- Pancake Day with Year 4

This morning, Year 4 students had a fantastic time celebrating Pancake Day in XP Outdoors! Instead of simply enjoying ready-made pancakes, the children took full control—mixing their own batter and cooking pancakes over an open fire.

With some support, the students carefully measured flour, eggs, and milk before whisking it all together to create the mix. Then came the exciting part—cooking the pancakes over the fire!

KS2 Disco Divas!

KS2 children had a blast at our Valentine’s Day Disco yesterday – lots of hotdogs, dancing and sweets were enjoyed by all 🙂 Mr Mumby took to the decks and by children’s request, the highly acclaimed tune – ‘Sigma Boy’ – had the school hall jumping like never before!

Maths Week

Crew Schön enjoyed a visit from Crew Raynor this morning. The older children had planned a counting game to play with the little ones. The children enjoyed passing a beanbag around the circle and counting forwards and backwards to 20. They also practised counting in 2s and 10s. We loved it! Thank you Crew Raynor!

Maths Week Activity 2!

Thank you to everyone who took part in the first activity of the week; we have had some fantastically creative work handed in! Are you ready for challenge two?

Maths is around us and we are constantly using language linked to maths in our everyday life. Can you create a poster that celebrates math vocabulary?

Your task is to create an A to Z poster! I wonder how creative you can make it….can you add images for each word? Which colours will you use?

Here is an example below although I know our children can do much better!

Well done to Adam who shared this amazing work for activity 1!

Maths Week 2025- Challenge 1

Maths Week 2025 is here, and we’re kicking things off with an exciting home learning challenge! This is your chance to get creative, have fun with numbers, and showcase your mathematical thinking.

For our first home learning challenge, we’d like you to choose a number and create a poster displaying different ways to represent it. You can show your number using:

  • Numerals (e.g. 7)
  • Words (e.g. seven)
  • Pictures (e.g. seven stars)
  • Number sentences (e.g. 3 + 4 = 7)
  • Arrays
  • Tally marks
  • Money
  • Anything else creative!

How to Take Part

  1. Choose a number that inspires you.
  2. Design and decorate your poster using any materials you like – be as colourful and imaginative as possible!
  3. Make sure your poster clearly shows your chosen number in a variety of ways.
  4. Submit your entry to Mr Mumby by Friday to take part in the challenge.

We can’t wait to see your fantastic ‘Ways to Show a Number’ posters! Get your thinking caps on, grab your pencils, and start creating.

Happy Maths Week!

KS2 Choir – Young Voices 2025

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of taking our KS2 choir to the Young Voices concert at the Utilita Arena. What an absolutely fantastic day and night we all had – even if we were all super tired afterwards!

A huge shoutout to all of the children for their awesome representation of Green Top and participating throughout the experience.

A big thank you to all of the family and friends that were able to come and support the event, we hope you enjoyed it as much as us!

Finally, an added shout out to the Year 6’s that make up our choir for your commitment each year to taking part in Young Voices – I really hope you enjoyed your last one and here’s a video to remember it all!
