This week, we were lucky enough to have Kerry come in to talk to the children about our new expedition. She was unfortunate enough to have experienced the flooding in Fishlake in 2019 and explained to the children how her family and neighbours were affected by this terrible event.
We are excited to invite families of our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils to take part in our upcoming Family Learning Sessions, which will take place during the first week back after the break!
These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for parents and carers to get involved your child’s new Expedition. This term, the activity will include an outdoor element, so we recommend wearing comfortable footwear as you’ll be moving around the school grounds.
Session Dates:
Year 3: Wednesday 16th April, 1:30 – 3:00pm
Year 4: Thursday 17th April, 1:30 – 3:00pm
We’re really looking forward to welcoming you into school. It’s sure to be a great afternoon of exploration, learning and fun!
Today, we carried on our learning from science week and enjoyed a special visit by Eli’s dad (a.k.a. Mr Chalk). Mr Chalk is an associate nurse and he shared not only a fascinating insight into his role but also lots of examples of how biology (and even maths!) helps him to look after the patients in his care. Of course, the children had lots of questions to ask but they were also fantastic at Mr Chalk’s ‘guess the broken bone’ quiz – well done boys and girls!
A big thank you to Eli from Class 10 for lending us his dad for the afternoon, and an even bigger thank you to Mr Chalk for his engaging and informative presentation!
A huge thank you to all of our parents and carers who could make today’s Y3/4 Presentation of Learning and a big well done to all the boys and girls who presented. We hope you enjoyed listening to some of the fabulous things we’ve been learning about this term and we can’t wait for you to see it all come together in our fabulous and informative child’s diary.
Please use the QR code below to pre-order your own copy of the diary at a cost of £5.00 each.
We are delighted to invite parents and families to our Presentation of Learning for our expedition, The Power of Life: What Makes Us Human? This special event will take place in the school hall on Wednesday, 26th March at 2:00 PM.
Our pupils have been working incredibly hard, exploring the fascinating aspects of what makes us who we are. From the science of the human body to the emotions and connections that shape us, they are excited to showcase their learning with you.
Please fill out the form below to confirm your attendance at the event.
Keep a look out on the blog this week for what we will be getting up to in our science weeks. We are planning to inspire the children with scientific experiments and visitors with scientific professions! We are very excited to see what the children know already and what they learn!
This morning, Year 4 students had a fantastic time celebrating Pancake Day in XP Outdoors! Instead of simply enjoying ready-made pancakes, the children took full control—mixing their own batter and cooking pancakes over an open fire.
With some support, the students carefully measured flour, eggs, and milk before whisking it all together to create the mix. Then came the exciting part—cooking the pancakes over the fire!
KS2 children had a blast at our Valentine’s Day Disco yesterday – lots of hotdogs, dancing and sweets were enjoyed by all 🙂 Mr Mumby took to the decks and by children’s request, the highly acclaimed tune – ‘Sigma Boy’ – had the school hall jumping like never before!
Crew Schön enjoyed a visit from Crew Raynor this morning. The older children had planned a counting game to play with the little ones. The children enjoyed passing a beanbag around the circle and counting forwards and backwards to 20. They also practised counting in 2s and 10s. We loved it! Thank you Crew Raynor!
On Tuesday 11th February, to mark Safer Internet Day, we will be hosting an e-Safety ‘drop in session’ for children and parents. The session will run from 14:00 – 15:00 and will involve some orienteering fun around the school grounds, with a link to e-Safety and staying safe online.
Please book your place to attend the session with your children via the link below.
