Y6 SATs Maths drop-in (Mr Mumby’s classroom)

Dear Parents,

We are writing to remind you about the Y6 maths drop-in session that will be taking place next week (Thursday 19th). This is an opportunity for you to come in and look at your child’s test papers, as well as access useful resources that can help support their learning in mathematics.

The drop-in session will take place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and you are welcome to drop in at any point during that time. Our Y6 crew will be available to answer any questions you may have and provide guidance on how to best support your child’s learning.

We highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity as it will provide valuable insights into your child’s progress and areas where they may need additional support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there! (Refreshments will be available too!)

Kind regards

Mr Mumby

Crew Jackson – paired reading

Fab paired reading today from our new class text ‘Clean Getaway’. The children focused on reading fluently and with expression – thinking about where to pause and which words to emphasise.

Great work guys!

Crew Jackson – spelling practice

This week we are revisiting how to spell words with the letters ‘ough’ in them. Did you know the letter string can make 7 different sounds?

Check out the video below as a reminder.

The children enjoyed testing themselves on their spelling whilst doing a word hunt in class today.

Crew Jackson – Character traits

Well done Crew Jackson on some excellent collaboration and discussion about character traits in our English lesson today.

The children discussed the meanings of the words, grouped the traits into sets of synonyms and antonyms and finally went on to select which words best described ‘Scoob’ the main character in our new book. All children could explain why they had selected different words and used evidence from the story so far to support their impression.

Keep up the hard work guys!

Crew Jackson – Investigating Light

Today we started our science case study – the aim to prove that light travels in straight lines. We had a fantastic time investigating and could give clear explanations of our findings. I was particularly impressed with the scientific diagrams the children did to evidence their work.

Keep up the hard work guys! From Mrs Jackson
