A ROOAARRsome day for Class 10!

We had a fantastic day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park today. Not only did we get to see lots of animals but we learnt all about polar bears in our classroom activity. Did you know a polar bear actually has black skin and it’s fur isn’t really white?!

Check out all the animals we saw here.

Hook Lesson in English

We had a wonderful first lesson in English, immersing ourselves into our anchor text ‘The Last Bear.’

We read this wrapped in our coats with all the windows open to experience the cold and while we read this sat in the dark the children all sipped hot chocolate like the main character April.

Fabulous learning at home and in school for class 7

Check out some of the brilliant home learning brought into school today – a big shout out to Poppy and Layla who have both produced some fabulous artwork inspired by our new underwater theme, as well as Annabel who has been busy practising her spellings on the computer.

Shout outs go to all of our learning legends today as well … Bobby for some super speedy independent maths work, Marshall for a fantastic self- critique in maths, Reef for his focus and determination with handwriting and presentation, and Cara who has returned to school today full of smiles and zest for learning. Well done guys!

Class 7 Underwater

This week, Class 7 have been busy immersing their classroom with the help of Mrs Stone into our new underwater theme. We have also enjoyed making some jellyfish art inspired by Annabel’s fantastic home learning piece. Well done everybody on a fantastic return to school after Christmas and happy weekend!

Thursday in Class 7

The children have been busy with their new maths topic, money. Today, we have been recapping our knowledge of coins and the children are looking forward to rummaging through any purses or wallets at home to see what they can find!

And a big shout out to today’s learning legend, Harley who has come back to school with an amazing attitude to working hard and getting smart – well done, Harley.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park Visit

The below will hopefully answer any questions which parents/carers may have about the visit which were not outlined on the letter that was recently sent out.

  • We would like children to wear school uniform as this will make it easier to supervise and group children. It is also practical for the cold weather and walking around the park (We do advise comfy footwear – trainers are fine).
  • We will be visiting the gift shop. The maximum children are allowed to bring is £10. Children do not have to bring spending money though – it is optional.
  • All children will need a thick winter coat (hat, scarf and gloves) as we will be walking around the park either side of the workshops.

Thank you,

Mr Oldridge

Community Walk

Year 3 had a wonderful walk around our community to see what we could find and how beautiful the place we live is. However we noticed lots of things including rubbish that ruined the environment, we have all made a pledge in order to make our community better and think of ways we can improve this for everybody which we will be working on throughout our current expedition.

Amazing maths & more fantastic fish art

Well done to Marshall and Teddy for working super hard in our arithmetic test today! Both boys showed off their fantastic use of pictorial strategies to solve some pretty tricky questions … keep up the great work 🙂

and check out some of our lovely mosaic fish art ready to help decorate our classroom …

Welcome back Class 7

It’s been a great first day back for Class 7 and the children are very excited to be starting our new expedition, How will what I do today impact on the world around me? They are looking forward to learning more about how pollution is impacting on our world’s seas and oceans, but more importantly … what we can do to help this.

All of the children have been fantastic and settled back into school so well that they have all been awarded today’s learning legend – well done boys and girls!
