Reading Immersion in Year 4!

After reading the first two chapters outside, we retreated back in to our toasty warm classrooms for a yummy hot chocolate and to write some fantastic predictions about what we believe will happen in our text.

We’d like to make a shout out to all of the children for their excellent listening skills and for sitting so sensibly- you were all super stars! It was a really lovely experience!

Music Hook Day!

WOW! What an awesome day we’ve had! I’m so pleased with how engaged and excited all the children have been throughout all the Music themed activities linking to our case study.

We began the day by designing CD’s linking to our learning around climate change to immerse our classroom.

We then researched Music through the ages. Each group focussed on music from a different decade and used the IPads to research and create a mood board!

Then the moment we’d all been waiting for… KARAOKE! We were all blown away by how brave and confident everyone were to get up and sing in front of everyone! What an absolutely brilliant afternoon!

CD Designs- Protect our planet!

Focussing on our guiding question, we’ve designed and created our own CD’s to immerse our classroom’s further. You all had great ideas on which designs would get the important message across! You superstars! Mrs Faulding x

Music through the ages!

It’s been so much fun investigating music through the decades today. We’ve worked collaboratively to create mood boards about a specific song from each year. It was fab to see you all appreciating different musical styles and notice how its developed over the years! Well done guys! Mrs Faulding x

Yorkshire Wildlife Park Visit

The below will hopefully answer any questions which parents/carers may have about the visit which were not outlined on the letter that was recently sent out.

  • We would like children to wear school uniform as this will make it easier to supervise and group children. It is also practical for the cold weather and walking around the park (We do advise comfy footwear – trainers are fine).
  • We will be visiting the gift shop. The maximum children are allowed to bring is £10. Children do not have to bring spending money though – it is optional.
  • All children will need a thick winter coat (hat, scarf and gloves) as we will be walking around the park either side of the workshops.

Thank you,

Mr Oldridge

Year 4’s Music Day!

We’ve had a fab day hooking in to our music case study today. It’s been amazing! Huge well done to everyone on making such an effort with their pop star/rockstar costumes.

We loved singing this afternoon in our karaoke session too. We’ve certainly got some potential superstars in the future! Miss Myer’s will blog some photos from this later. Really proud of you all for getting up and joining in. Thank you all for a wonderful day!

What is beautiful in our community?

Year 4 have kick started Hook Week with a lovely walk around our community today.

We focussed on what is beautiful in our community and what we think is spoiling it.

The children were really reflective in their responses and also enjoyed the fresh air chatting and catching up after Christmas! There was a lovely, buzzing Crew spirit today!

The children then made pledges about what they are going to do to keep our local community beautiful! Super start Year 4!

Well done to Abbie and Damion for winning our two Christmas competitions! The winning elf name was ‘Cinnamon’ and the total number of candy canes was 52. We managed to raise a fantastic total to go towards our Year 6 leavers fund so thank you for all of your donations.
