The Learning Council members really enjoyed visiting the Year 5/6 classrooms yesterday to watch maths in actions! They captured lots of lovely learning happening which you can check out below!
Also, a big thank you to all those that have taken part in our ‘guess the sweets’ activity! We will be visiting EYFS on Friday to take their guesses and then will reveal the winner next week! The Learning Council can’t wait!
This week in community crew, we have been learning about Hinduism and Diwali. The children got to make their own lanterns to celebrate the festival of light. Well done Crew Ambler.
This week in expedition we have been learning all about the Doncaster Plant Works and the impact it had on Doncaster throughout the Industrial Revolution and beyond. Today we have learnt about the 5 different phases of the plant works and how these different phases affected life throughout Britain. Well done Class 15 your expedition work today was fantastic!
In community crew this week, we talked about gender stereotyping. We learnt about what it is and discussed how everyone can be equal. Great work Crew Ambler.
Thank you to everyone who came to support our event this afternoon! What a great way to help our community and be kind! We are looking forward to working with the experts from the park railway after half term and also handing over the money we raised today.

This morning in Crew Ambler we read for pleasure for 10 minutes. We were all excited to read a book of our choice and getting hooked into reading. Well done Crew Ambler
REMINDER
Dear parents/carers,
On Tuesday 12th October 2021 we will be inviting you to join our family learning celebration. Our current expedition is centred around the history of rail and we would like to work closely with the local community by supporting Thorne Miniature Railway, who are currently fundraising to keep their service running.
This will be taking place in Thorne Park where our children will be hosting stalls to raise funds in support of the miniature railway.
On Friday 1st October we will be taking part in a non-uniform day. To come in non uniform we would appreciate a donation for the tombola that will be one of the stalls at our fundraiser.
On family learning day we would like to invite you to join us at Thorne park and support your children. On 12/10/21, Year 5 and 6 will be running stalls and have the opportunity to have a ride on the miniature train and learn about how it works.
To enable this to happen children will need to be collected from Green Top at 2:00pm and meet us in the park by 2:15. This will give you a chance to enjoy the event prior to the rest of school and the local public being invited to join us at 3:00pm. Unfortunately if you are unable to join us children will remain in school until 3pm where they can be collected as usual.

Year 5/6 are making links through expedition and working with our local community to support the miniature Railway. We will be hosting a range of exciting stalls for you to get involved with and all proceeds will be donated to keep the miniature railway running.
